I'm not a big fan of beauty subscription boxes especially when they are mostly full of sample sized items you could have gotten free but when I see a box being hyped, my curiosity kind of peaks and I want to see what all the hype is about. Thus for my birthday last month, I ordered the October edition of Tribe Beauty Box after seeing it on a local beauty group on Facebook.
About Tribe Beauty Box
For those new to it, Tribe Beauty Box is a bi-monthly beauty subscription box. In it, you get 5 full-sized beauty products for $34.99 (approximately €40) every two months. The all-female-owned company promises you will get over $100 worth of products, thereby making it one of the best beauty boxes around at the moment as regards value for money in my opinion.
It's best if you join the waitlist on their website to make sure not to miss out on the box and you can cancel the subscription at any time.

Since the company is based in the US, it took a little over a month for the box to arrive which is honestly the only complaint I have on it. Each little box is pink and has makeup doodles all over it which I honestly think is cute!
What was in the October box?
Now for all the glitz! Each box comes with a small card with all the product details, including the prices.
First up, there's The Balm Meet Matt(e) Shmaker eyeshadow palette. I have been looking to try a couple of products from The Balm for a number of years but somehow, I never got round to it. I like their packaging and I have only heard good things about them. Pigmentation with all shades in this palette is jaw-dropping and now I only have to wear them out to see how long they last. It comes with six matte and six shimmer eyeshadows you can mix and match for endless eye looks.
Next, we have The Mini MakeUp Eraser. This is basically another version of the popular Glov - a cloth you use to remove your makeup with, using only water. I will definitely pack this from now on whenever I'm travelling to save up space and weight! Plus it will last for 3 to 5 years and is machine washable. Oh and bonus - it's super soft!
Speaking of cleansing, the next product is MaskerAide Let's Face It Purifying Cleansing Stick. As interesting as it looks, I'm not sure I'm willing to try this. My only concern is the bacteria transfer from skin to product and any potential breakouts as a result. Until I figure out a way how I can avoid this, I am going to refrain from using this so if you have any suggestions, please do let me know what you'd do :) The smell is intriguiging though, very fresh and I love the pink colour of the product too.
There's also a Moda Brushes Ezglam Duo Smoky Eyes brush set and a Crown Pro Blush Brush. I have never heard of Moda Brushes, to be honest, so I'm curious to see how they fare. I love the turquoise handles and look forward to using them. On the other hand, I'm disappointed in the way the Crown Pro brush is presented. It costs a few dollars than the Moda ones and they have better-looking packaging. It's not something directed at Tribe Beauty Box of course but I just wanted to get it out there. Nonetheless, it looks like it's a good quality brush and I'm looking forward to trying it.
Lastly, my favourite product out of the whole box - the Bellapierre Ombre Lip Kit. The kit includes two liquid lipsticks and a lip liner designed to be worn as an ombre lip look or on their own. I'm thrilled with the choice of colours as they are both something I wear a lot of and I look forward to creating an ombre look with them.
Bonus product - when I signed up for the October box, there was an offer going on where I entered a code and got three Makeup Geek Pressed Eyeshadow Pans - Shimma Shimma, Peach Smoothie and Aphrodite. I actually got the eyeshadows in a separate package about a week before the box and when I emailed the company they were super helpful in letting me know the whereabouts of the actual box as the original tracking link wasn't much help.
This box had a total value of $127.49 plus $18 for the Makeup Geek eyeshadows (around €112 + €15) so I really got way more than what I paid for. I'm pleased with the contents of the box and would consider getting it again, maybe in December for Christmas or as an occasional treat. Would you subscribe to this service?
