Last Monday I was tagged by the lovely Fiona over at Cruelty Free Malta to answer some questions about myself so the local blogging community gets to know each of its members better.

1. How did you get your blog / Youtube channel name?

I didn't really give it much though at the time, I just thought it sounded good.

2. If you could change your name to anything, what would it be and why?

I've been blogging for 5 years now and the name has kind of stuck so I wouldn't think of changing it.

3. If you could go back in time and give your younger self advice, what would it be and why?

Don't worry too much, everything will sort itself out in due time, go on have fun and make experiences to learn from.

4. How old were you when you first learned to blow a bubblegum bubble?

Hmm probably 8? Maybe a little older.

5. What did you want to be when you were little?

I always wanted to be a veterinary when I was young, mainly because I love the sight of cats in general, no matter the size and colour :)

6. What's the hardest you ever laughed?

There are too many instances to pick just one.

7. If you could play any musical instrument, which would it be and why? 

Oh definitely the piano! I love the sound of it and listening to it relaxes me.

8. What's your favorite thing to do when your upset?

Ok don't judge me now, but buying new shoes always puts in a better mood. It doesn't solve the problem but it helps to put me in a better state of mind and calm me down. That, and looking at colourful eyeshadow palettes

9. What's your favorite movie?

I'd go with Sleeping Beauty. Yes, I know it's old and a cartoon but it brings back so many happy memories from my childhood when I used to watch it over and over again for hours on end.

10. What's one food you can not live without?

Cheese! If I had to be allergic to cheese, God forbid, there would be no more purpose for me to live.

11. What's your favorite dessert?

It's gotta be red velvet cake, mainly because of the cream cheese frosting.

12. Favorite pizza topping?

I don't really like my pizza to have a lot of toppings so I stick to the good old Margherita most of the time but if I'm feeling adventurous, I'd go for pepperoni.

13. Would you rather have the superpower to read minds, or the superpower to be invisible?

Both have their perks but the ability to read minds would be awesome I guess. 

14. What did you do for your last birthday?

I spent the morning shopping with two of my friends who also happen to be colleagues at work and in the evening, dinner at a nice Thai restaurant with the boyfriend.

15. If you had one personal "selfish" wish, what would it be and why?

Does having people do all the work while I sit back, relax and enjoy life count? If yes, that would be it ;)

Event | NYX has finally come to Malta...Bloggers' Preview

Hello everyone :) Yesterday evening I was lucky enough to be invited to a bloggers' preview event at the newly opened NYX Cosmetics shop in Sliema. Technically the shop opened its doors for the first time last week but it was cool to have the shop open late just for us bloggers to have a look around and swatch a ton of products to hearts' content! Not to mention the pretty and yummy food and deserts we were served!

The shop is exquisitely decorated in black and white with all walls lined with all sorts of makeup products...a taste of heaven on Earth! Well, at least for girls ;P The staff are very welcoming and they are willing to help anyone choose the right products at any time.

 

 

 

 

 

Basically the premises consist of the makeup section as soon as you enter the store as well as a brow and lash bar and a makeup room where one can book an appointment for makeup application for very reasonable prices. The makeup room is rather private and cosy, conveying just the perfect ambiance for some pampering time.

 

 

 

 

After about two hours of swatching and having our questions answered, we were all holding little baskets to fill with products we liked and we were offered a 25% discount just for the night. I bought a couple of lipsticks because I really wanted to try the NYX Round Lipsticks as well as a green eyeshadow, an orange lip pencil and a nail polish. Keep your eyes peeled for the collective haul post for all the product details and prices. The majority of the prices are on par with those in the UK and USA but there are some products which are slightly more expensive. Having said, however, NYX is a very affordable brand overall with quality products rivalling high-end ones.

 

Before leaving, we were each given a generous goodie bag...made out of lace!! This is what was inside it:

 

 

I really enjoyed my evening at the NYX premises and I look forward to visit again soon. I would like to express my gratitude to all the staff for hosting us and wish them good luck with this new venture, even though I'm positive it will be a success!

Event | Biocare Academy Students' Graduation Night

Last Friday evening, I was invited along with fellow bloggers Martina from All Things Fabulous and Rebecca from Island Of Make Believe for the Biocare Academy Students' Graduation Night.

 

The Biocare Academy premises are situated in Mosta and they offer a range of course ranging from makeup and nail technology to holistic and fitness courses. They are also importers of a variety of brands such as Australian Body Care, Dermalogica, Pro Nails, Gehwol, Eva Garden and Mary Cohr to name a few. I was the first to turn up and I was immediately greeted with a glass of Prosecco and ushered to the premises' internal yard where there were gathered all the successful students and their tutors. Martina and Rebecca turned up a few minutes later and we were shown the way to the room where the ceremony was going to be held.

It was approximately an hour long ceremony and it was good to see the students receive their well merited certificates. Some were even surprised with overall best achievement awards! When the certificate presentation was over, three students delivered short speeches to thank the school and share their experience with the other students from different courses.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

After that, us bloggers were presented with a little goodie bag by Roberta, Biocare's Marketing Co-ordinator and we were given a little tour of the premises and then, we all proceeded downstairs for a reception throughout which food and wine were served.

We got to chat to the tutors and Noel, the photographer for the night. The photos he took will eventually be uploaded on the Biocare facebook page and I will share them with you in due course on the blog's facebook page.

Overall, it was a well organized night and I think the others would agree with me that we had a fantastic time!
