Event | Pink Fashion Show is [Back]Stage

The much awaited Pink Fashion Show organized by Pink Magazine, took place last Tuesday night at the majestic 18th Century Manoel Theatre in the heart of our capital city. Despite the rain, guests still flocked to the idyllic venue to witness yet another fantastic showcase of the season's hottest trends in beautiful surroundings.

The night kicked off with a pre-party where guests were served Kinnie Kiss cocktails (Prosecco and Kinnie - Malta's own soft drink). Following the obligatory chats to catch up and share our two cents about the expectations for the night, me and some fellow bloggers took our place at the front of the runway to make sure not to miss any detail from the night's look.

The show was yet another perfectly executed do - the models walked down the runway under the gazes of a totally wowed audience sitting in the theatre boxes and even those standing around the catwalk stage, accompanied by the rich repertoire of baroque music works of art from the Valletta International Baroque Ensemble. This is one of the main reasons why I love the Pink Fashion Show, for it always manages to seamlessly combine our heritage with current fashion trends in a way that is very difficult to surpass.

Since party season is on our doorstep, all brands showcased their best party collections - rich velvets, bold prints and colours, opulent metallics, leather and sophisticated outerwear have set the scene for a truly fashion-forward outlook on the most glamorous time of year. My absolute favourite was of course Rebelli, but all of the other 6 brands have very interesting collections - here are the pictures (captured by Mark Soler) to prove the splendour of them all!

I would like to thank Pink Magazine for having me again and also, a huge well done to everyone involved in the making of another spectacular night! Bravo!

Event | The Pink Fashion Show - Follow Your Muse and Let The Arts Come Alive

Yesterday evening marked an important date in the local fashion calendar - the Pink Fashion Show which was held in the elegant surroundings of seventeeth-century Palazzo de Piro in Mdina, our old, history-rich capital.

I knew we were in for a treat the moment the invitation came through my letter box. I always say that the standard of an event can be hinted at from the invitation and I definitely was not let down! I met up with fellow bloggers Mariel, Stephanie, Lyndsey and Dorianne (seen below goofing around and being paparazzied by Mark Soler) and together we climbed the stairs to the glorious rooms which were to be graced with models showcasing collections from various brands as well as two local designers.

Prior to the main event, we had the chance to revel on the beautiful masterpieces that the luxury 88 Rue du Rhone watches are and I was pleased to see they even cater for ladies with practically non-existent wrists like mine - can't wait to have my own timepiece from the collection in fact! The men will also find something they like from the various exquisite offering which make up 60% of the whole collection.

Now for the actual fashion show. The arts were the inspiration behind it all this year, and practically every element contributed towards the theme where classical and modern art collided in perfect harmony. Classical art was represented in the form of the palace itself and paintings adorning its walls, ballet dancers which accompanied the models and piano music that was played throughout the show. Of course, modern art was also incorporated in the form of the clothes the models wore, the lush platforms (courtesy of LOFT) and the sketches by the talented Saz Mifsud who also had her own clothing collection to showcase during the event.

In fact, this year was the first ever year that the show gave the opportunity to two local fashion designers to showcase their collections, namely Saz Mifsud and Carla Grima Atelier and I have to say that both designers have outdone themselves in a very good way! Well done!

The other brands that took part in the fashion show were Joseph Ribkoff, Furla, Calvin Klein Jeans, Bata, Guess Jeans, Liu Jo, River Island and Stradivarius; all of which showcased pieces from their latest collections and definitely had me taking note of the ones I'd like to own.

The models' hair was styled in elegant updo's, often with braids which were also a work of art in themselves and their makeup was kept to a minimal, natural look.

The event was a Times of Malta production in collaboration with Infinitely Xara and was supported by ChemimartKinnieFRANKS with GuerlainLOFT MaltaOlympea, Kind's with Renault, Screen Haircare, The Dance Studio Kappara, and VIP Malta with 88 Rue du Rhone. Models were from Supernova  and Models M Modelling Agencies including the Face of Diet Kinnie competition finalists.

Once again, thank you Pink Magazine for having me at the event and well done to all involved!

Event | The Pink Fashion Show It's Kick Off Time!

I had been looking forward to last Friday every since the invite for the Pink Fashion Show landed through my mail box. The Pink Fashion Show has now become a stalwart in the local fashion calendar and after attending the magazine's 10 year anniversary show last year, I just couldn't miss this one!

As me and my boyfriend made our way to Savio College in Dingli, after what seemed like an eternity in traffic, I couldn't have been more grateful to the dress code - flats or wedges! (here, I have to thank Aldo Shoes for offering a nice range of stylish and comfortable wedges). Luckily, us guests were greeted with refreshing Kinnie and Diet Kinnie (Malta's own soft drink) as well as water, wine and beer to down the delicious nibbles. I also had my first Pink Raspberry Magnum which tastes delicious (and definitely won't be my last one) and my boyfriend approves of the Black Espresso one too ;)

New Magnum flavours are to die for!
Following the reception, we made our way to the gym where the show actually took place. The backdrop was a running-track setup which complemented the Savio College Grounds excellently. The show opened with a dancing act from Stage Coach Kids and I think I speak on behalf of everyone when I say that they are truly talented and absolutely adorable! Following that, two groups of models arrived on the catwalk in two Renault Twingo cars and the show officially kicked off!

Models showcased items from the summer collections of F&F, Guess Jeans, Karen Millen, Marks & Spencer, Miss Selfridge, Optika, Punt Roma and River Island and obviously I already have some items on my to buy list!

I really enjoyed the out of the ordinary setting and all the collections presented at the show and look forward to the next Pink Fashion Show!
