How I restored my hair with Olaplex Haircare

What has been the buzz-word in haircare for a number of years has only just made its way into my haircare arsenal. I'm talking about Olaplex and its wonderful range of products and this post will be all about how they have become the best friend my hair never knew it needed overnight!

Olaplex has been on the market for a number of years but like I said, I never used it before - be it at the salon or at home. Right at this instant, I would like to publicly apologize to my hair for depriving it of the wonders of Olaplex.

So let's get into the whole story of how I decided to switch my hair care completely to the Olaplex range. To cut to the chase, Corona made me do it! I was talking to my colleagues on how on Earth was I going to manage my hair without the regular hairdresser appointments and they suggested I start using Olaplex No.3. I went ahead and bought that and the No.4 which is the shampoo. Shortly after, I was chosen as a winner by the local importers of Olaplex to try their newest release, No.7 Bonding Oil and just a few days after, I won another giveaway where the prize consisted of Olaplex No.3, No.4 & No.5 (I gave the first two to a fellow front-liner as I had already bought them).

I started using the products right away and my hair thanked me for it instantly! It felt, restored, soft, and vibrant! One huge difference I noticed is how a small burnt patch on the front of my hair which always felt coarse(!), was immediately restored and felt smooth after the first time using Olaplex! I like to describe them as little magic potions for the hair. Summer in Malta means prolonged exposure to the sun, sea, and chlorine in pools, all of which are not exactly beneficial for hair and I'm sure Olaplex will help in caring for my hair better this year.

I can firmly say I'm never going back to other hair care products after using Olaplex but let me explain what the different products are and what they do before I conclude this post.

Olaplex No. 3 - the first of the take-home treatments is probably the most widely-used and well-known of the bunch. It is a treatment that you apply to your hair before washing. Think of it as a pre-shampoo treatment. I like to apply it in the morning on the day I'm washing my hair and leave it on till the evening. I do this once a week, except when I have my hair dyed, in which case, I apply the treatment twice a week. Even though using the full range is recommended for the best results, if you only buy one product, make it Olpalex No.3, and use it regularly to help maintain healthy hair.

Olaplex No.4 & No. 5 are the shampoo and conditioner respectively and you just use them as other shampoo and conditioners. What I feel is different from other shampoos though, is how soft my hair feels after rinsing, rather than it feeling dry.

Olaplex No. 7 is the latest addition to the family and it is a Bonding Oil. I like to use it on towel-dried hair which I leave to air-dry for a bit before using a hairdryer. The oil imparts a beautiful shine to the hair and you only need a couple drops. It smooths the hair cuticles and reduces drying time.

Now I just need to get my hands on the No.6 to fully complete my hair care regimen! I love the results and how my hair is looking and feeling. Yes, they are more expensive but when you compare them to salon brands, they are priced roughly within the same price range (€25 each for No.3, No.4, No.5 & No.6; €27 for No.7) and so worth the few extra Euro!

Olaplex can be bought in-store and online from selected hair salons only.

What are your thoughts on Olaplex?

Review | TRESemme Runway Collection Make Waves Spray Gel & Shape Cream

As you probably know by now, I was thrilled to collaborate with TRESemme during this year's edition of the Malta Fashion Week and Awards. TRESemme is one of the main sponsors of the event and when they reached out to me asking if I wanted to collaborate, I was over the moon to say the least and I gladly accepted the collaboration.

Of course I was given some products to style my hair with during the week and they have been such a hit that they are practically all I am reaching for at the moment. I have a few ranges to talk about in a series of posts and I shall be starting with the two products I strongly feel are my hair's best friends during these hot, humid summer months. Ladies, it's time to Make Waves!

Make Waves Memorize & Style Cream

This is my favourite product out of the two. The cream comes in a 125ml tube and I am a big fan of the black packaging with the contrasting orange labelling - I think it looks really cool, don't you agree? The cream, is white in colour and has a nice smell. Texture-wise, it is somewhere between a gel and a cream - very workable but a little sticky.

The cream forms part of the Make Waves range which is aimed of course at styling hair in a wavy fashion. It is recommended to distribute the product evenly on towel-dried hair and then styling with a diffuser to achieve the perfect waves. My hair is already a little wavy by nature so all I do is apply the cream as directed, leave my hair to air-dry and voila'! My hair is wavy in no time! What amazes me the most when using this cream is my hair the day after - it still maintains a nice wave and does not become frizzy.

Make Waves Spray Gel

The second product I shall be talking about today is the Make Waves Spray Gel. I have never used anything like this before so I was curious to see how it performs. The product comes in a 200ml spray bottle which features the same artwork as the cream from the same range. It is a transparent gel with the same smell as it's counterpart. The spray gel can be used both on towel dried hair or on dry hair but I prefer using it on dry hair to revive a style. I like that it produces a nice, even spray and it maintains the curl nicely. Of course it is not as soft when using the cream on its own but the spray gel is even perfect for keeping your hair in check at the beach ;)

Waves made easy with TRESemme!

TRESemme Make Waves range is definitely a hit with me! Look out for two more posts on the rest of the products I was given in the coming weeks!

Review | milk_shake Color Care Shampoo & Whipped Cream Leave-in Foam

Hi there my lovelies! Today I'm back with a shampoo and leave-in conditioner review. I have recently dyed my hair and of course, colour treated hair needs appropriate care. My hairdresser suggested this milk_shake duo to make the most out of my colour and to protect my hair from drying out due to the colour treatment.

Now, those of you familiar with milk_shake products know how good these things smell and that is precisely what hooked me on these hair care products. I really enjoy washing and treating my hair with them partly because they smell of vanilla milk shake and partly because my hair never looked so good!

The shampoo gently cleanses my hair from product build-up and sebum, leaving it soft and smelling gorgeous while the leave-in conditioning foam protects and hydrates my hair until the next wash. Both products contain milk protein to condition hair and Integrity 41 which protects hair colour.

Now excuse me while I run to my hairdresser to get my backups of this fantastic duo!

Have you ever tried milk_shake products? What are your thoughts on them?

Review | COLAB Sheer+Invisible Dry Shampoo

Last week saw me collect my first product as a Schwarzkopf VIP tester (there was a public call on Facebook and I was selected to be part of the panel) and I was given a full sized COLAB Dry Shampoo to try on my oily hair.

This is not my first time using COLAB Dry Shampoo as I had bought a travel sized one during my last visit to London. It is however, my first time using the London fragranced version and I think I like it more than I do the Tokyo oriental fragrance.

Now what makes COLAB different and better than other dry shampoos? It leaves no white residues and that is of course amazing! All you have to do is spray the product from a distance onto your roots and massage it through. Being sheer, you can use as much as you want to mop up oil from your scalp in between washes, plus the fragrance makes for nice smelling tresses!

I usually was my hair every other day but sometimes I just have the time to wash, dry and style it especially if I am in a hurry but COLAB has been a life-saver in that regard. It keeps my hair looking fresh in between washes!

If you have oily hair, I urge you to try this amazing product, represented in Malta by G.Farrugia and Sons.

Review | Yves Rocher Volumizing Shampoo & Texturising Styling Spray

Fine hair can be a nightmare to style, especially when the problem is even more aggravated with the hair being oily. Luckily for people like me, there's the Yves Rocher Volumizing Shampoo and Texturising Styling Spray to save the day!

I was suggested to try this shampoo and styling spray duo on my visit to the Yves Rocher Paola shop earlier last month specifically because they contains organic mallow which gives the hair a volume boost. I was also told to apply the shampoo to dry hair first to remove as much oil as possible then proceed as usual and apply the spray to the roots before blow-drying. And let me tell you, it did make a huge difference!

Let's have a look at the shampoo first. You get 300ml of product in a completely recyclable bottle and the product itself is biodegradable too! I like the shape of the bottle as it is more travel friendly than the usual round ones and being transparent, I can tell when I need to repurchase.

The consistency is on the watery side so a little goes a long way and lathers up nicely to give the hair a feeling of cleanliness. Moreover, the shampoo carries a light, herbal scent and is free from silicone, parabens and colourants so you know you are treating your hair to something good!

The complementing product is the Texturising Styling Spray which I prefer to use on wet hair before blow-drying. I flip my head upside down and spray some product to the roots of my hair before massaging it in and style my hair.

Again the bottle is fully recyclable and the spray nozzle delivers an even mist. The spray also carries the same herbal scent as the shampoo and is also free from silicone, parabens and colourants. This time, you get 200ml of product and with the bottle being transparent, you can easily tell when you need to buy a back-up.

I have noticed a huge difference in the way my hair looks after I started using these products in sync and my hair looks more volumised and since both porducts are silicone free, my hair is not weighed down. Moreover, both products feel mild enough for everyday use.

I would recommend you visit one of the three Yves Rocher shops we have in Malta to find the ideal range for your hair type. And with the extensive variety they offer, you are sure to find a line that suits your hair's needs!

Yves Rocher Volumizing Shampoo retails for €6.90 and the Yves Rocher Texturising Styling Spray retails for €10.80.

Yves Rocher are located in:

11, Bisazza street, SLIEMA (Next to Sorbino and Ice watch)
219, Merchants street, VALLETTA (Next to Pumpkins Patch and in front of Caruana or the Electro store)
76, Antoine de Paule square, PAOLA (Next to Gauda)

You can also check out their Facebook page to stay updated on their products and special offers they have from time to time!

Monthly Favourites | July

Today I'm feeling rather productive so I will be posting two posts, the first one of which is actually the July Favourites. There is a good number of products and to avoid the post being too lengthy, I will get right into it.

I will start with hair products first. Summer can wreck havoc with your hair so it is important to take extra care of it. While I always apply a UV filter spray at the beach, I try to avoid heat styling tools as much as possible and consequently, these three products are my hair's best friends; John Frieda Frizz-Ease 3-day straight helps keep fly-aways at bay and when I do heat-style my hair, it remains straight. Joico Restorative Styling Oil is the perfect leave-in treatment for hydrating my hair and keeping it smooth. Another product from Joico is the Power Whip mousse which has enough hold for my hair to keep a curl when I want to change up my style.

For makeup, I have been favouring mostly minimal looks with just a pop of colour on my eyes or lips. My favourite products have been the Catrice Prime and Fine Waterproof Translucent Mattifying Powder (which sadly has been discontinued), Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Breathless, Milani Baked Blush in 03 Berry Amore, Max Factor Face Finity All Day Primer and lipstick in 655 Lilac Wine. I have also included two new products from Pupa Milano - the I'M Lipstick in 206 and a limited edition eyeliner from the Viva Carioca collection in the shade 003 Parrot Blue. All of these products have excellent pigmentation and staying power.

Long lasting makeup needs a good base to sit on and that can only come from a good skin care regime. My favourite products this month have been the Polaar Ice Pure Arctic Cotton Scrub, Ice Source Gel Moisturiser and Michael Todd Honey and Oat Gentle Deep Pore Cleanser. To top up benefits, I have also been loving the Lierac Mesolift Serum and Polaar Icy Magic Eye Roll-on.

Lastly, comes body care. The Body Shop Early Harvest Raspberry Body Scrub has been my go-to body scrub this month to keep my skin in tip top condition and my favourite fragrances have been Miss Dior and Neutro Roberts Extra Delicate Powder Fresh Deodorant.

The Exit Interview Series | Volume #32

This month I have been back on a roll with using up products and I also have a couple of products which I have given up all hopes that I will use them again so instead of them occupying space, I decided to wave goodbye and make some much needed room.

So, first up are two powder products which I used to like but they seem to have grown on me and I haven't reached for them in a long time. E.L.F. Mineral Blemish Powder used to double up as a concealer just because my skin is quite pale but nowadays I tend to stick to just one concealer and that also means less products on my face.

As for Rimmel London Lasting Finish Minerals Loose Powder Foundation, this seems to have oxidised and it doesn't match my skin tone anymore so it's no use keeping it.

The next product to have the same fate is E.L.F. Brightening Eyeliner Black. While it has very good pigmentation, staying power is horrible and smudges like crazy. I tried giving it a lot of chances but it just won't stay put and after trying other much better alternatives, I couldn't help not to chuck it out.

Up next, I have used up two of my favourite waterproof mascaras, Essence Get Big Lashes Volume Boost Mascara and Catrice Lashes To Kill Volume Mascara. I'm torn between the two to see which one I should repurchase once I run out of the other waterproof mascara I am currently using but I think I will go for the Essence one because I like the brush better.

Moving on to nails, I have used up Sally Hansen's Instant Cuticle Remover which I have repurchased a backup for long ago. I really love this product and my clients do to. It gives better results and gets rid of dry and excess cuticles in no time! Highly recommended! I have also used up Essence Quick Dry Top Coat. I used to hate this because it took ages to dry so I only used it when the base colour was completely dry and there it worked wonders. I also liked to use this to adhere rhinestones to the nails and they stayed put for as long as I wanted them to. Still not sure if I would repurchase though.

Trying perfume samples is the best way to determine if you like a perfume or not before parting with your cash because let's face it, perfumes can be expensive. This month I have used up two samples of Shakira Elixir and Kylie Minogue Pink Sparkle. While I liked the latter, I have found Elixir to be more of a spicy scent which is not really my kind of scent.

Moving to skin care, I have used up my Michael Todd Charcoal Detox Deep Pore Gel Cleanser and while it is a very good cleanser, I have switched to the gentler formula of they Honey & Oat Cleanser. Nonetheless, I do recommend this cleanser for oily/acne skin types. Another cleanser I have used up is the Mary Cohr Perfect Gel Cleanser (sample). Although I liked the texture of this, I didn't really like the scent so I'm sticking with my current cleansers.

I have also gone through a pack of Fresh & Clean makeup remover wipes. I have limited the use of these to clean up swatches and foundation from my hands while applying makeup rather than to take off my makeup at the end of the day because they made my eyes sting so no repurchase there.

La Roche Posay Cicaplast Levres has been a good friend to my lips this winter and I will definitely repurchase it. It provides a moisturising, protective barrier for the lips to combat signs of dryness and chapped skin effectively.

So, more samples. This time I have Angel Hair Care Water Depth Spa Shampoo which has proved to be a very good shampoo to rehydrate my hair and give it a nice shine; I also have this Gehwol Leg Balm which in my opinion is a leg saviour especially if like me, you spend a lot of time on your legs at work. It's a real treat that I highly recommend.

Lastly, I have a Coconut Body Scrub from The Body Shop. This is hands down my favourite from all the range and I have repurchased this countless times already. Definitely the best body scrubs I have ever tried!

Phew that was one long post! Any products you have used up and would like to share your thoughts on them?

Guest Post | Heat Styling Basics for Maximum Results

In this modern day and age, us, women, have become reliant on heat styling tools for our everyday styling needs. This means that you do not have to go to a salon every time you wanted to a blowout, curl or straighten your hair. With some heat styling tools (and some helpful tutorials you can find online), it becomes easier to be your own hairstylist at home. But you need to observe proper heat styling techniques to ensure that you not only achieve your desired style, but also prevent damaging your hair in the process.

Read on to find out styling tips for common heat styling tools such as blow dryer, flat iron, and curling iron.

Blow Dryer

The blow dryer is probably the most frequently used heat styling tool for women. And yet, there are still plenty of complaints with regards to its use such as causing too much frizz (mostly on curly hair), inability to completely dry hair, tangles and making hair harder to style.

All complaints point to probably one reason – over-drying the hair with the use of blow dryer. The main point of blow drying is to direct heat to remove excess moisture out of your hair. But in some cases, the heat might be set on a high level of temperature that it heats up the hair too quickly. Most women keep blow drying even when the hair is already dry. When hair loses too much moisture, it becomes vulnerable to tangles and frizz.

When using the blow dryer, you need to take advantage of the various heat settings. Use only high heat when doing a blowout or adding curves with the aid of a round brush. But if you simply want to dry your hair, it is best to stick with medium or lower heat setting.

In addition to the temperature level, look into the air flow speed of your blow dryer as well. With a higher air flow, you have less control over the styling of your hair. Use a medium setting to ensure that you can direct the hair according to your desired style and maintain control when styling.

The final consideration when blow drying is to assess your hair type and adjust your styling accordingly. For curly haired women, using a diffuser is recommended to produce a soft flow of air. This means that you can dry your hair while keeping curls intact (versus causing a lot of frizz). Women with fine and thin hair can also benefit from the use of a diffuser because it disperses the heat and is therefore not too harsh. For long haired women, a methodical approach to blow drying offers many benefits. Start drying the bottom section of your hair, then move up to the middle section and finally the top section. This approach ensures even and more thorough drying of hair.

Curling Iron

One of the biggest complaints among women using curling iron is that their hair is unable to hold the curl. The secret to that is the prep for the styling. Make sure that your hair is completely dry before using the curling iron. There is also danger presented in using curling iron on damp hair as this could “cook” your hair, which is extremely damaging. The use of the right styling product also ensures that your hair strands respond well to the heat to form a new curl shape. For instance, use styling gel on hair before drying it so that hair has more structure to it.

Flat Iron

To get more success straightening your hair with a flat iron, you need to blow dry hair straight before you start styling. You will get much better result when you use the flat iron once you have blow dried the hair.

Do not overload the flat iron, too. Putting in too much hair at one time against the flat iron won’t give you the result you want. Instead, it results to uneven heating and tension rather than having a smooth finish to your hair. It also poses more damage as you have the natural tendency to leave the iron clamped on the hair longer to compensate for covering thicker section of hair. The ideal thickness of hair to pass through the flat iron is about 1/8 of an inch. Slide the section of hair slowly on the plates starting from near the scalp. Then, press the plates together and run it all the way down towards the ends.

Are you guilty of common mistakes with heat styling? Follow the recommendations above and make the most out of your heat styling tools!

Review | The Body Shop Rainforest Balance Shampoo & Conditioner for Oily Hair

Last week I popped into The Body Shop outlet at Sliema while shopping because I needed to buy a body scrub and while I was deciding which one to get, the sales girl came up to me and introduced me to their Love Your Body Club, in other words, The Body Shop's loyalty reward program.

I was only €6 short of collecting my first stamp on the card so I had a browse round the shop and decided to give the Rainforest Balance Shampoo and Conditioner a go. The packaging played a part on my decision too because it saved me from packing the bulky bottles I have at home in last weekend's getaway luggage.

The bottles are very sleek with tight closing caps and each holds 250ml of product. The shampoo comes in the dark green transparent bottle while the opaque light green one is for the conditioner. I would prefer if the conditioner bottle was also transparent because it would be easier to see how much product is left.

A little goes a long way with these two especially the shampoo which lathers up nicely and they both carry the same refreshing scent which translates nicely to your hair. I liked how my hair felt and looked so fresh and clean right after the first wash and if I want to, I can skip washing it for two days which is a first with my very oily hair.

My hair feels remarkably soft and looks clean all day each time I use this combination of shampoo and conditioner thanks to the combination of ingredients such as pracaxi oil, white nettle, seaweed and aloe vera (of community trade origins). Both products are free from parabens, silicones and colourants.

I would definitely recommend these shampoo and conditioner for people with an oily hair type and now that I have tried them, I cannot see myself without them!

Rainforest Balance Shampoo & Conditioner for Oily Hair retail for €6.50 each and are available at the various The Body Shop outlets across Malta & Gozo.

Review | Schwarzkopf Bonacure Hair Therapy Oil Miracle Light Finishing Treatment

In my October Favourites, I have included the Schwarzkopf Bonacure Hair Therapy Oil Miracle and I have said that it gives me softer and more manageable hair. A product this good is worth a full review doesn't it?! So, here goes!

Back in August, I was invited to the Dean Gera Hair Care salon opening at The Point in Sliema and amongst other amazing goodies in our goodie bag, was this hair oil sample size by Schwarzkopf, one of the professional hair care brands available at the salon. I was sure I would never use it because I have very oily hair and putting in more oil wasn't going to help for sure...or so I thought. However, after reading Steph's review, I was convinced to give the product a go, after all it is just a sample and if I didn't like it, it wouldn't be the end of the world. Fast forward to today and I still cannot fathom why on Earth did I think of not using it before! This product works wonders for my hair!

The sample comes in this cute little carton box while the actual product is supplied in this little glass bottle with a black cap that you unscrew to pour out the product. I like it when samples come in transparent packaging just as the full sized versions as it makes it easier to see how much you have left; also, 5mL is a good amount of product, considering this is a sample, since you only need a little of the product at a time.

The oil smells very nice and it is quite runny, making it easier to work into your hair. Speaking of application, all you have to do is just work a pea-sized amount into towel-dried hair, then blow-dry and style as usual. Result! Glossy hair that doesn't look or feel weighed down but looks healthy and soft!

For me, I find that it gives excellent results when I straighten my hair as the straightening iron glides on like a dream and the oil protects my hair from any possible damage. Moreover, there are two variations of this hair oil, the one I have, which is for fine to normal hair and then there is another one for the more coarse hair types, so there is one for everyone.

As for the irrational 'fear' I had about the oil making my hair greasier, I have to admit I was completely wrong and this is just a common misconception... my hair still turned greasy after two days which is my hair's normal 'time-span' and I always wash my hair every other day.

Thereby I would recommend this hair oil to anyone who wants to treat their hair to a healthy shine without weighing it down. If I am not mistaken, the full sized product retails for €15 and I think I will be buying it once I run out of the sample.

Review | Philip Kingsley Moisture Balancing Shampoo & Conditioner {Travel Sizes}

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of attending the Philip Kingsley London launch at Professional Health and Beauty Services in Mosta and at the end of the event, all those in attendance were each handed two samples of the Moisture Balancing Shampoo and Conditioner.

I have switched to using both of these from the day after I got them and I have used up the shampoo for fourteen washes (I wash my hair twice in one session) and the conditioner for 7 times and there is still left for more uses!

The samples come in small, white plastic tubes and each contain 20mL of product, very generous I have to say and this will enable you to really judge the product's performance before buying the full-sized versions. On a side note, all Philip Kingsley products come in travel sizes (also 20mL) so you can opt to buy those first to see if the product works for you or not.

As you can see the packaging is quite simple and reminds me a little of medicated cosmetics but at the same time, it is designed to reflect the professionality and trichological background of the brand. Philip Kingsley is all about maintaining a healthy scalp besides healthy hair, hence all of their products and ingredients are backed by scientific research and knowledge in Trichology, which is a branch of Dermatology that studies the scalp and hair in both health and disease. So you can say Philip Kingsley is a sort of medical-cosmetic brand and I think the packaging really fits it.

The Moisture Balancing Shampoo and Conditioner are designed for medium textured, wavy hair and chemically processed fine textured hair and my hair fits neither category because it is very fine and oily but I still wanted to try them.

So I shampoo, condition and style my hair as usual and I have seen a drastic improvement in volume from the very first wash! As for the moisture balancing action, I find my hair turns greasy less frequently than it used to and my hair holds a style for longer. When I used the products on subsequent times, I also noticed a decrease in the amount of hair I lose when washing my tresses.

As for texture, the shampoo looks and feels runny compared to other shampoos while the conditioner is more dense yet still a little on the watery side and pearly white in colour. The shampoo lathers up nicely and smells a little bit like a medicated product. The conditioner, on the other hand, smells nicer and I would describe the scent as light, pleasant and floral.

The price may turn out to be a major concern to some but overall, I highly recommend Philip Kingsley products but I will be buying the Body Building Shampoo and Conditioner which are more suited to my hair type along with a couple of other products as soon as they hit the shelves. Yepp, this year, I will buy myself a healthy scalp and hair for Christmas!

Event | Philip Kingsley London Lauch

Backed by 60 years of Trichological experience, Philip Kingsley, the man who saved Audrey Hepburn's hair back in 1974 and coined the phrase 'bad-hair day', went on to establish a high-end hair care brand that is now also accessible on the local market thanks to Liberty Business Culture (who also have Biocare Academy).

Us bloggers were cordially invited to be a part of it all at yesterday's official launch. To be honest I have never heard of the brand before but when Roberta, their Marketing Coordinator was briefing us a little about the brand (during a previous event) and mentioned Audrey Hepburn's name, I knew this brand was something to look out for!

The launch event consisted of a presentation and demonstration (aimed specifically for the hairdressers in attendance, during which I got very jealous of the model which was receiving a very relaxing head massage), both of which were excellently delivered by Ms. Lisa Elizabeth Caddy, UK Sales Manager & International Trainer for Philip Kingsley.

Ms. Lisa Eliszbeth Caddy briefing us about the brand

What intrigued me the most about this brand is that it is mostly based on Trichology, a branch of Dermatology (study of the skin) that is concerned with the study of the scalp and hair in both health and disease.

Let's face it...we have all experienced the psychological boost a fresh hair do gives us and like our skin, healthy hair is the result of a healthy scalp! Here is some information about the Philip Kingsley brand and the man behind it.

Philip Kingsley range of shampoos. Image courtesy of Philip Kingsley Malta

Philip Kingsley products have been launched in 1997 and can be found in 22 countries worldwide. They have Trichological clinics in Mayfair, London and in Manhattan, New York where both medical and cosmetic issues are dealt with by fully qualified Trichologists. Philip Kingsley himself is a practicing Trichological consultant himself since 1957. Trichologists study nutrition, dermatology, physiology, genetics, cosmetic science and endocrinology (hormone studies) to be able to deal with clients experiencing any type of hair loss or scalp problems as well as treating other hair problems such as chemical damage. The brand insists on honest and ethical consultation to ensure the right diagnosis and treatment.

The Philip Kingsley approach to formulating the right hair products is based on hair textures and they formulate products for Fine, Medium, Coarse and African-Caribbean hair types. All Philip Kingsley products contain UV sunscreen and are free of colouring agents. Although the products are not organic, they strive to using the ingredients in their most natural state and they only go in there if they are backed by scientific research that they actually do something to help the hair and scalp look and feel healthy. The brand promises immediate results and long term benefits when using the right products for your hair type.

They have an extensive range of products, the most popular of which is probably the pre-shampoo conditioner, Elasticizer which was developed for Audrey Hepburn to help her keep her hair in tip-top condition while filming movies. The brand boasts numerous awards and whenever their products are featured in media, they always get the highest ratings. Is it any wonder Mr. Kingsley has been called 'The Hair Doctor' and 'The Hair Guru' by The Times and The New York Times respectively?

I have fine hair and I am really interested in trying a few products from this brand. The ones that interest me the most are the Elasticizer, Body Building Shampoo & Conditioner and the Scalp Toner. For now, I will get through the Moisture Balancing Shampoo and Conditioner samples that they kindly gave us at the end of the event before we headed down for some refreshments!

So thank you Liberty Business Culture for inviting us for yet another interesting event! For more information on the products and stockists, check out the local Facebook page here or the Philip Kingsley website.
