Last Monday I was tagged by the lovely Fiona over at Cruelty Free Malta to answer some questions about myself so the local blogging community gets to know each of its members better.

1. How did you get your blog / Youtube channel name?

I didn't really give it much though at the time, I just thought it sounded good.

2. If you could change your name to anything, what would it be and why?

I've been blogging for 5 years now and the name has kind of stuck so I wouldn't think of changing it.

3. If you could go back in time and give your younger self advice, what would it be and why?

Don't worry too much, everything will sort itself out in due time, go on have fun and make experiences to learn from.

4. How old were you when you first learned to blow a bubblegum bubble?

Hmm probably 8? Maybe a little older.

5. What did you want to be when you were little?

I always wanted to be a veterinary when I was young, mainly because I love the sight of cats in general, no matter the size and colour :)

6. What's the hardest you ever laughed?

There are too many instances to pick just one.

7. If you could play any musical instrument, which would it be and why? 

Oh definitely the piano! I love the sound of it and listening to it relaxes me.

8. What's your favorite thing to do when your upset?

Ok don't judge me now, but buying new shoes always puts in a better mood. It doesn't solve the problem but it helps to put me in a better state of mind and calm me down. That, and looking at colourful eyeshadow palettes

9. What's your favorite movie?

I'd go with Sleeping Beauty. Yes, I know it's old and a cartoon but it brings back so many happy memories from my childhood when I used to watch it over and over again for hours on end.

10. What's one food you can not live without?

Cheese! If I had to be allergic to cheese, God forbid, there would be no more purpose for me to live.

11. What's your favorite dessert?

It's gotta be red velvet cake, mainly because of the cream cheese frosting.

12. Favorite pizza topping?

I don't really like my pizza to have a lot of toppings so I stick to the good old Margherita most of the time but if I'm feeling adventurous, I'd go for pepperoni.

13. Would you rather have the superpower to read minds, or the superpower to be invisible?

Both have their perks but the ability to read minds would be awesome I guess. 

14. What did you do for your last birthday?

I spent the morning shopping with two of my friends who also happen to be colleagues at work and in the evening, dinner at a nice Thai restaurant with the boyfriend.

15. If you had one personal "selfish" wish, what would it be and why?

Does having people do all the work while I sit back, relax and enjoy life count? If yes, that would be it ;)

Tag Post | First Date Tag

I was recently tagged by sweet Caroline of Diva Inside to do the First Date Tag. Here are my thoughts on the whole subject!

1. How long does it take you to get ready for a date?

First dates are somewhat of a big deal and yes I am guilty of taking too long to get ready. Usually I would have planned the outfit before so once that's sorted, all I have to do is soak in a bath, exfoliate, shave, do my hair, get my makeup done and get dressed. I'd say the whole process takes somewhere round the three hours mark.

2. What is your idea of a perfect first date? 

a) Dinner

b) Drinks

c) Cinema

d) Adventurous Dates

Dinner is always nice as you get to converse easily with your date, providing I have met the other person before. If it's with someone I don't really know, I'll stick to drinks.

3. What would you gravitate more towards to wear on a date …

a) Jeans

b) Trousers

c) Skirt

d) Dress

I'm quite the girly girl so I'll always opt for a nice dress and heels combination.

4. On the date of your choice what makeup would you wear

a) Girl next door

b) Smokey and sexy

c) Bold lip

d) Brights

I usually go for a smokey eye look with neutral lips.

5. Your date says you have an hour to be ready. What do you do?

I'd appreciate if he lets me know in advance so that if I have time during the day, I'll get most of the prep steps out of the way during the day and leave the shower, makeup and outfit for the last hour so that I'm ready on time - I hate being late to anywhere.

6. Your date asks for the bill, do you …

a) Offer to pay – with actual meaning to pay

b) Make a fake fuss – with no intention of paying

c) Expect him to pay straight away

I always offer to pay with actual meaning to! It's not like we're in the sixties anymore! We are always going on about being independent and that sort of thing so I don't see anything wrong with splitting the bill or offering to pay for it all for that matter. Having said that, I would appreciate him paying on our first date though.

7. It’s time to say goodbye you really like your date do you …

I'd go for a small peck and see if things lead to a full on smooch...and a second date :)

Summer Lovin' Tag

While I'm wrecking my brains as to what to pack for a weekend getaway in Gozo, here's a quick tag post that comes courtesy of Caroline from Diva Inside and Dorianne of Ask Dorianne :)

1. Summer lipstick you're loving

 

Technically, I have two and I love them both for the same reason...they are super pigmented and long lasting, just what every girl needs in this heat :) Their names? Max Factor Lipstick 655 Lilac Wine and Pupa Milano I'M Lipstick 206.

 

 

2. Summer nail polish you're loving

 

Hmm this is a tough one but Zoya Lara is my favourite for two reasons - #1, it bears the same name as me and #2, I love the bright pink colour that is perfect for summer!

 

 

3. Bikini you're loving this summer

 

I just can't get over my Yamamay bikini. I always buy one or two each year but this one that I bought two years ago remains my favourite. I like the pattern, the detailing and the fit of this bikini and it's my first one from Yamamay :)

 

4. Favourite summer Frappuccino from Starbucks

 

We don't have Starbucks in Malta and...I hate coffee or anything to do with it so I'm gonna have to skip this one.

5. Favourite fake tan

 

I don't use fake tan but I am really enjoying Lierac Paris Sunific Preparateur Tan Starter Serum. I have been applying this since June and I can definitely see a difference in how much longer my tan is lasting!

 

 

6. Favourite summer song

 

It has to be 'Changes' by Faul & Wad Ad - the beats make me think of beach parties and chill out days :)

 

7. Favourite summer accessory

 

This pair of Orsay earrings make the cut here - I love green for it is such a fresh colour and I have worn these multiple times already.

 

 

8. Favourite summer fragrance

 

I'm currently loving Love, Chloe. Such a fresh, girly scent :)

 

 

9. Summer book you're loving

 

Sadly, I don't have much time to read these days so I don't have any summer books :( 

10. What are you most excited to do this summer?

 

Definitely enjoy some quality time with my boyfriend and our families especially his cute nephews...all under the hot Maltese sun :)

Maya's Questions

How long have you been blogging?

 

This June has actually marked my fourth year of blogging. I feel my hobby has been very rewarding indeed...through it I found a love for writing and also got to be part of an ever-growing community of fantastic people with interests similar to mine :)

 

Is there one international blogger whose style you admire most, or aspire to be like?

 

Chiara Ferragni of The Blonde Salad is definitely one to watch. She's got style, she's got class and everything in between.

 

What are your top three summer essentials?

 

Hmm...kind of tricky to just limit myself to three products but that's got to be waterproof mascara, Max Factor Face Finity All Day Primer and Lierac Paris Sunific Preparateur Tan Starter Serum.

 

Naked face or naked nails?

 

Again, trick question to ask to a beauty blogger/nail technician but I think I'll go with naked face. I go bare faced or put on just some concealer most of the time but I very rarely have naked nails.

 

What are you reading at the moment? Or the last book you read!

 

Inferno by Dan Brown. Very good book that's hard to put down if you're into that kind of literature.

 

What’s your most recent beauty or fashion related purchase?

 

Heh where do I start?? So beauty wise, the last thing I bought was a Max Factor lipstick in the shade 655 Lilac Wine and fashion wise, the last purchases were from River Island.

 

How do you feel about fashion or beauty trends? A definite must, or more like guidelines that you might incorporate into your own style if you like them?

 

Trends come and go both beauty and fashion wise but it's nice to keep up with them and see which ones suit your personal style and discover ways of how you can adapt them to your liking :)

 

One thing you’re planning to do this summer?

 

Lots of weekend getaways and maybe a skydive trip to Sicily.

 

Are you strict with yourself when it comes to scheduling your blogging, or do you prefer to blog as inspiration hits you?

 

I like to keep my blog as a hobby and consequently, I prefer to blog from time to time. Sometimes I draft three or four posts and schedule them to be published across the week. Other times, I just write a post for that day. It also depends on how much time I have on my hands.

 

One tip or trick you’ve learnt that helps you with your blogging?

 

I'm kind of a perfectionist so I always make sure to re-read my posts before publishing. Good use of the language you are writing in is a must in my opinion. Also, it is always helpful to include good pictures of whatever you are writing about.

 

If you had an unlimited budget, where would you love to travel to?

 

Going round Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, etc would be a good place to start. Or else I would be a super luxurious yacht and go all around the world starting at Capri, Portofino, Monte Carlo.... a girl can dream right ;)

 

 

Allyson's Questions

 

What's your absolute favourite nail polish colour?

 

Another tricky question. Kind of hard to choose between 200+ polishes but I'd go for OPI Witch is Which? - a gorgeous mix of silver glitter that is easy to wear alone or layered over other polishes.

 

Would you ever consider doing YouTube videos? If you already do, what are your goals?

 

For the moment, YouTube videos are not on my agenda but I won't say it's a definite no.

 

Earrings or necklaces?

 

Earrings! I have well over 50 pairs in my collection and I never leave the house without a pair on.

 

What is your dream Job?

 

Something that has to do with fashion and beauty magazines would suit me just fine :)

 

Worst beauty/makeup product ever tried?

 

I don't like thrashing products as what doesn't work for me might work for someone else but if I really had to pick one product I'd choose MUA Lip Boom in LMK. While I love the colour, I hate how it fades to just a thin line at the rim of my lips after only a couple of hours and the glitter in the gloss part is too chunky for my liking. I do like the sweet smell though.

 

If you had to describe yourself as an animal, what would it be?

 

A cat. I love cuddles :)

 

What are your strengths?

 

I like to think of myself as a good leader and I am also a good listener. Hope that didn't sound like I'm bragging :/

 

What makes you nostalgic?

 

Catching up with old friends and looking at photographs makes me relieve the day in question but I am quite happy to be where I am right now :)

 

What is your most loved possession?

 

It has to be my Chevrolet Spark :) I worked hard to buy it and it's my first car :)

 

What was the last gift you got?

 

The cutest Me to You teddy bear and a very original card to go with it from my boyfriend :)

 

If you could change your name what would that be?

 

I quite like my name but if I had to change it, I would have loved if my parents named me after Audrey Hepburn.

Sunshine Bloggers Award

Good afternoon everyone :) How is your Sunday progressing so far? Mine has been quite relaxed and I started the day with a walk near the sea. This has fast become my favourite therapy to help me relax and ease my mind and it makes me feel good too. So with iPod on, I am trying to start my days this way whenever possible.

The sea relaxes me to an extent that mind thinks so much better and I get to reflect upon certain events that have taken place in my life recently. However, my mind always drifts to the same thing...the special people who have always been there for me as well as other who have made their way into my life unexpectedly and I am grateful for each and everyone of them. Family, friends, colleagues, fellow bloggers, I am thankful for each and everyone of you!

1. I have only recently got my driving licence at 24 years of age.

 

2. Lately, I have been enjoying wine whenever I dine out and my favourite is a White Zinfandel Rose' which tastes sweet at first but has a dry aftertaste.

 

3. I am addicted to chocolate yet I do not like chocolate flavoured ice-cream and cakes.

 

4. This is the first year that I haven't done any resolutions and I am making lifestyle changes as I go. So far it has proven to be more effective.

 

5. I have fast become a fan of scented candles and my favourites are anything related to the sea such as ocean breeze fragrances, fruity scents and anything vanilla based.

 

6. I am obsessed with having my skin in tip top condition and I always make sure to exfoliate at least twice a week and apply body lotion all over everyday.

 

7. I would like to own a cabin cruiser one day and spend the rest of my life living on it and travel the world one port at a time.

 

8. Paris is my favourite city in the world and I never get tired of visiting it. This year, however, I am looking forward to more adventurous travels.

 

9. Currently I am obsessed with the colour rose gold. I think it goes with a lot of pieces in my wardrobe and it has a more juvenile feel to it than yellow gold.

 

10. Orchids and roses are my favourite flowers and I love decorating with them in simple vases.

 

11. As much as I say I hate the colour black, my wardrobe is 40% black. I need to shop for brighter colours in winter :P Yes, I am a strong believer in the mantra that you help the economy when you shop...especially for shoes :D

 

Answers to Dorianne's questions

1. Name one thing which makes you smile.

 

Babies and little children make me smile no matter how low my mood is. The look on a child's face makes the world such a better place in its innocence.

2. What's one beauty trend that you just can't stand?

 

I can never say this enough; nude lips and dark lip liner.

3. Dogs or cats?

 

Definitely felines...of all shapes, sizes and colours. Oh and the bigger and fluffier the better!

4. Your best bargain so far?

 

This has to be my latest acquisition from Nine West. I have been looking for a nice comfy pair of pointy patent black heels since forever and last Friday I found one at Nine West at 60% off. I paid a mere €38 instead of €95 and they are a dream to walk and dance in!

5. Your favourite childhood movie?

 

This has to be Sleeping Beauty. Mum and Dad used to leave it on repeat as I never got tired of watching it and then in the evening I would dance with my Dad to Once Upon A Dream :)

6. Who's your favourite author? (you can only pick one)

 

Dan Brown. I have read all of his books and although they may seem they always revolve round the same theme, I find it fascinating how he manages to come up with certain plots. I also like his writing style.

7. Have you made any new year's resolutions for this year?

 

No but I am making lifestyle changes as I go.

8. What’s something you’ve done that, perhaps, changed your life to the better?

 

This sounds mean but breaking up with my long term boyfriend has proved to be an eye opener. He is a good guy and I cannot complain about him but there were certain things on both parts that we just couldn't work out. It has changed me to a better person and with the support of people who I hold dear, I have managed to go through the break up swiftly.

9. Which is the worse: too much perfume or body odour?

 

Body odour. I can't stand it! Ewwww.

10. If you could be any influential person for a day who would you be and why?

 

I believe anyone is influential in their own regard so I'd choose to be me any day. I am who I am because of the influences of other people on me and there's nothing more rewarding than someone thanking you for being a positive influence in their life.

11. Something you're craving for right now?

 

Sushi! I have only discovered it recently and now I crave it all the time. I have even learnt to eat with chopsticks!

A few weeks ago, I came across this tag over at Makeup Savvy and since I am now a self-confessed lipstick addict, I thought I might as well go ahead and do this tag post!

How many lipsticks do you own?

 

Hmm...my collection has grown to 39 lipsticks at the moment.

 

What was your first ever lipstick?

My first ever lipstick was Maybelline Water Shine Diamonds 02 Beige Glace. Back then it was called Cocoa Shake and I thought it was discontinued before I read somewhere that they had changed some of the names!

 

What is your favourite brand for lipstick?

Can I choose two brands? I'd say MAC has to be my favourite high end brand for lipstick while Catrice is my favourite drugstore brand. They do some amazingly pigmented lipsticks that compare well to other high end brands!

 

What is your most worn lipstick?

Definitely Catrice Ultimate Colour Lipstick 190 The Nuder The Better...prefect for day and night and complements my skin tone to perfection!

What is your favourite finish?

It's gotta be Lustre and Crème finishes. I find they are the most moisturizing formulas around.

What was the last lip product you bought?

Wjcon Automatic Lip Liner Bimbo to match with one of their lipstick I bought before.

 

How many lip products do you currently have in your bag?

Right now, that's 4 (and that includes a lip balm).

How do you store your lipsticks?

I store my lipsticks in two designated containers and I keep the longer ones in a plastic box...I transfer all of them in the refrigerator during the summer months to prevent them from melting.

 

What lipstick do you use to rock a red lip?

Basically, I first line and fill my lips with NYX Long Lip Pencil CLPL20 Plush Red & then I go over them with Givenchy Rouge Interdit 20 Illicit Raspberry for the ultimate red lip that lasts for hours on end!

 

What lip products are you currently lusting after?

I really want to try NYX Round Lipsticks but I will wait till their store opens here this month ;) oh and I wouldn't mind adding a few more MAC shades to my collection!

Tag: Nail Polish Addict

I just saw this fun tag on Christine's blog and wanted to share with you all my answers to these 10 nail polish related questions :) Enjoy and link me back your responses if you decide you want to this tag as well! 

Whats your favorite nail polish company? 

My favorite nail polish company is without any doubt China Glaze.  I get my polishes off ebay as over here in Malta I only know of one shop that sells the brand and each polish retails for around €7 whereas on the internet I can get them for €4 - €5. I also like the Color & Go range by Essence Cosmetics as they have a nice selection of colours and they only retail for around €1.40!

Glitter or no glitter? 

Depends on the occasion really as glitter is quite stubborn to remove and even with the foil removal method, I always end up with glitter all over my hands lol.  None the less, I still love playing around with glitter nail polishes because they can change the look of a nail polish instantly!

OPI, China Glaze or Essie?

I have never tried OPI as I just can't bring myself to fork out €9.95 or more on a bottle of nail polish so I cannot really comment on the brand.  On the other hand, I have tried both China Glaze and Essie and while I love the Essies I have in my collection, I prefer the China Glaze formulation as it lasts longer on my nails. Also, China Glaze are always coming up with fun collections and at the moment I'm really lemming some polishes from the Prismatic and the Safari Collections.

When do you change your nail polish?

I usually change my nail polish every week but sometimes I find myself changing it twice a week especially when I buy a bunch of new ones :)

Whats your favorite color on your nails?

Pinks, reds and purples are the colours I reach for most often but I do like to change it up every once in a while and opt for a green or blue or any other colour! 

Dark or bright? 

Both! You will never see me sporting full on black nails though... I hate black!

What are you wearing on your nails right this moment?

I'm actually donning a fresh manicure! It's quite girly and I have used the sponging technique. Stay tuned for the tutorial ;)

Matte nails - in or out?

I have tried matte nails but I still cannot decide whether I like them or not as I do prefer shiny nails.  However, dark colours tend to look better matte. I just need to experiment a little more ;) 

French manicure?

Definitely yes!! It is French so I like it :P Joking apart, I just can't a resist a well done French manicure as it looks so clean and fresh.

Favorite winter color?

Hmmm a nice reddish plum or taupe/greige are my go-to winter nail colours.

Tag: 8 Most Worn Things

I saw this tag on a blog I follow (sorry I can't remember which one it was) and I decided to do it! I think it will all get us pondering about or most abused items!! :P

1. Lipstick ~ I prefer lip glosses to be honest so I am going to cheat a bit here and show you my worn lipstick and gloss... Maybelline Water Shine 02 Beige Glace & e.l.f. Super Glossy Lip Shine in Goddess.

2. Earrings ~ I generally wear these simple pearl studs for everyday, but to jazz up my going-out outfits I really like these Peacock earrings!

3. Sweater ~ comfy, cute label and all in my fave colour! Bought it like two years ago from Peacocks as well.

4. Nail polish ~ this is tough, but if I had to choose only one, I'd say Cranberry by e.l.f. Cosmetics.

5. Shoes ~  this is even tougher! The most worn shoes for everyday at this time of year are this grey pair of boots and this pair of ballerina pumps, both from Peacocks.  My most worn going out shoes is this pair of bow heels from Dorothy Perkins:

6. Hair Product ~ this no name brand hair spray that keeps my hair in check all day! (review will be up next week).

7. Perfume ~ Kate Moss Velvet Hour & Guerlain Insolence

8. Bag ~ I really love this Tally Weijl bag as it is roomy and I get to carry all my essentials with me wherever I go :)

Tag: 15 Random Facts About Me

The gorgeous Dyna from Dyna's Random Blog, tagged me to do this post, so here goes!

1. If you have read my Ultimate Nail Tag, you will know I was born with long fingernails (if you didn't you know now haha) and something extra (or should I say less)... no hair! I guess all the keratin was at my fingertips lol :P

2. My favourite flavour/scent of pretty much anything that exists is Vanilla!

3. I hate winter and rainy days like today and I ADORE summer. No I don't care about the suffocating humid hot summer we have nor do I care about my unruly hair, I just love the up-beat moods I am in during summer and I love sunshine and bright clothes, bright everything, days at the beach... Oh summer I miss thee so much!!! Please come back soon ;(

4. I don't have a huge make-up collection as I only buy essentials, but I do like to try out new products so I'd say I have a medium-sized collection. However, I do have quite a good number of polishes hehe :)

5. I love SHOES!! If I'm feeling under the weather, I believe retail therapy is my only cure and nothing makes me more happy than buying a new pair of gorgeous shoes!

6. I think black is an elegant and fail-safe choice of  clothes' colour  for practically andy setting yet I don't like wearing it!

7. I am freaking scared of roaches but I am very fascinated by butterflies... their freedom and bright colours are what I admire the most.

8. My favourite animal to have as a pet would be a cat... he/she would keep my tootsies warm in winter :P Shown here is my bf's oldest cat... she's adorable and soooo soft!

9. I do not own any Mac... kill me now lol but I just don't get it why someone would spend all that money on a single eyeshadow/lipstick... when there are cheaper alternatives with exceptional quality.

10. Doing nail art (both on my own nails and for clients) is what relaxes me.

11. I get cold hands and feet all throughout the year!

12. I am a self-confessed book worm and will read anything interesting that comes to hand.

13. I keep 3 diaries to write all the stuff I have to do... my Uni diary, clients diary and a diary for all appointments, to do lists, etc... yes I am a tad OCD with having everything organized :S

14. My all time idol is Audrey Hepburn... I so admire her beauty and grace!

15. I feel most confident when my hair is in place!
