Ruffles On Top of Ruffles!

Remember that pair of coloured Zara heels I posted on Facebook a while back? Well I wanted a nice red dress to go with them for Showers at Cafe del Mar. I immediately went a hunt to find the perfect red dress, a mission which remains unaccomplished to date, thus I had to find an alternative outfit.

With ruffles being big this season, I thought of opting for something fun to pair the shoes with; consequently, as soon as I came across this top and skirt from Zara I knew they were what I was looking for! I just love how red and blue go well together and the ruffles really did make a statement; as for the shoes, I think they tied in well with the outfit and lent it even more colour!

The party couldn't come any faster for I was really excited to wear this outfit. I finished it off with a pair of small stud earrings from ALDO, a cut-out cuff from Debenhams and this gorgeous bag which you wouldn't believe is from Aliexpress! Actually, a seller had sent the bag to me to do a review on the Aliexpress website and I have to say I am impressed with the quality of this bag. Scroll down for more pictures of the bag after the outfit shots :)

The bag is from a called PMSIX and they really do have some nice designs if you want to check them out :) Mine has a ton of compartments which means I can skip carrying a wallet and I can easily find whatever I would be looking for at a any given time. It also comes with a long chain to wear it as a cross-body bag, a small leather strap to wear it as a wristlet and I can omit attaching the chain and strap altogether and carry it as a clutch! What's more? The embroidery is just perfect and I love the little tassel detail too :)

Showers is a luxury party presented by Remax at and for the fifth year running, the event was sold out. It was held at Cafe del Mar in Qawra under the organisation of Events By Martin, with the help of numerous sponsors who make sure guests are entertained and kept in a jovial mood all throughout. There were international and local dee-jays playing summer tunes during the whole of the afternoon/evening and the place was decorated as if it were a unicorn playing field!

We had a really great time and me and my friend even got some glitter makeup applied! This was my first year attending Showers and it most definitely won't be the last!

Gingham for Lunch!

Gingham is one of fashion's most loves patterns, especially in the sixties and seventies, and I am extremely delighted it has made a come-back this year - I have already got a few pieces in this versatile pattern, my latest buy being this Zara top which I picked up recently in their sale.

Top, Zara | Shorts, River Island
Shoes, ASOS | Bag and rings, ALDO
Sunglasses, & Other Stories | Bangles, Mango

I thought last Sunday was the perfect day to wear it for lunch to celebrate my Dad's 60th birthday :) We headed to The Cliffs, a lovely restaurant in the picturesque village of Dingli which prepares dishes mostly out of ingredients that are specially grown on the premises. Dingli is located in the northern part of Malta and is mostly known for the coastal cliffs which offer visitors breathtaking views of the glistening sea and the small island of Filfla as well unadulterated country views. It gets quite windy here in the open which was a welcome change from the heatwave we endured during the most part of last week.

Back to my outfit, I love the floral print and the frill details and the little bow on the shoulders - I think this top has the right balance of everything and in my books, it qualifies as that nice top we are always look for.

I paired it with black shorts to make the colourful floral motifs pop even more and this pair of strappy high heels which I got last year from ASOS (P.S. they still have them in orange). The bag really pulled the outfit together and added some more glam which was probably a tad too much for daytime but I was really digging how the outfit looked all together. In fact, I am a big fan of metallics as I think they can be worn day and night.

A Touch of Bright - Outfit for Day 1 of MFWA 2017

For the first day of the Malta Fashion Week, I chose a rather bright outfit. I am going to be honest and admit that this look was all planned around this gorgeous pair of Zara leather ankle boots. I instantly fell in love with them as soon as I saw them online and I bought them specifically with the intention of wearing them during Fashion Week.

I really like the combination of emerald and mustard together although it is not something I would have thought of I have to say. However, I think it turned out to be a great look and I felt really comfortable in it. Tonight calls for an edgier look so be on the lookout for a special post tomorrow :)

Pleats Please

Spring has sprung! And fashion has taken a cue from mother nature with beautiful floral prints and embroidery blooming all over. The weather is still settling into warmer temperatures but now is the perfect time to start ditching the layers and wear the prettiest of skirts!

Pleated skirts (more specifically the ones with accordion pleats) are literally everywhere this season. I am a big fan of this trend but being petite, I have to admit that I had to search quite a few shops to find a skirt that suits me given that such skirts are mostly available in ankle length variations.

Shoes, Limited Collection at Marks & Spencer
Floral applique bag, ALDO Shoes & Accessories | Sunglasses, Marks & Spencer

I am pleatsed to say that I have found my dream pleated skirt at Stradivarius from their latest collection. It is this dark green silk number with a sort of oriental style flower print all over them. Them having quite a busy print, I paired them with a light-weight beige blouse which a little lace detailing at the back. However, my favourite part of this outfit is this bag which I got from ALDO. I think it brings the whole look together...don't you agree?

On a side note, I'm really digging how the outfit blended with the garden backdrop of the serene San Anton Gardens in Attard and how cute is that cat who wanted some cuddles while posing for photos? :)

Milan Outfit Diaries

One of the things I always freak out about when travelling is which clothing items I am going to pack with me, and most of the time, the choice revolves around any new items I have acquired in the days leading up to the trip. Yes, you guessed it; more often than not, I end up buying new clothes just to take with me here or there and of course, Milan was no exception.

Being a fashion capital, I really didn't want to get it wrong and we all know how stylish northern Italians tend to be. I this post, I am going to share with you three outfits I wore during the day. One special dress is missing from this post but I will show you the outfit in better detail in an upcoming post.

Outfit #1 - Of Ruffles & Western Details

For our first day I opted for a comfy ensemble as we had to catch a flight of course. I took this River Island coat with me which proved to be a life saver against the cold temperatures and since it keeps me so warm, I could get away with something light underneath. Of course I had to wear my new Italian leather Zara Chelsea boots to lend an otherwise girly outfit an androgynous edge. The western buckle belt further gives the outfit an edge as does the demi-tucked shirt. To top it off, I chose wear a cloche hat and this tassel detail cross-body bag. Pictures were captured at Parco Sempione.

Outfit #2 - A Colourful Melange

Me and my boyfriend both enjoy going to museums and sightseeing and whenever we are abroad, we try to take in as much as possible from the place we're visiting. In fact, we dedicated our second day entirely to sightseeing and some shopping of course. I wanted something colourful and vibrant for a day in the city and have to say I am really pleased with how this outfit turned out. I think the scarf really brought it all together. The heeled boots are one of the comfiest pairs I own so I had no issues after a full day of walking around the city. My favourite pieces from the outfit are without a doubt the colourful scarf which I bought in Munich last month and the Tommy Hilfiger x Gigi Hadid bag which my boyfriend gifted me for Christmas. Pictures taken at Colonne di San Lorenzo and Galleria Vittorio Emmanuele II.

Down feather jacket and emerald green roll neck sweater, both Zara
Denims, Charles & Ron | Boots, Nine West
Scarf and gloves, both H&M | Felt cross-body bag, Tommy Hilfiger x Gigi Hadid

Outfit #3 - Modern Day 90's

We spent the first half of our last day in the picturesque city of Como where the temperatures were a little colder than in Milan so layering was of course a must. I opted for the same Charles & Ron denims and Zara real leather boots from the days before just because they are so comfortable and I took the opportunity to wear this new merino mix top (also bought in Munich last month) and my new River Island bomber jacket. I also had the same coat from day 1 but I took it off just to 'show-off' the beautiful embroidery on the jacket. I finally found a bomber jacket that I like and with the choker and dark red lips, I felt I was reviving my 90's self. Pictures were taken at Como.

Bomber jacket and choker, both River Island
Merino wool mix cable knit sweater, H&M (L.O.G.G.) | Denims, Charles & Ron

The rest of our last day was spent in Milan, where we attended the Manolo Blahník exhibition, visited the Duomo and dined at Nobu in the evening. I will show you what I wore to Nobu in another post and I was also requested to write about my dining experience there so I'll be sure to write about that too :)

Which was your favourite outfit? Should I do travel outfit diaries more often or do you prefer a separate post for each outfit? Leave your comments below :)

Travel Look | Cold, so cold!

Welcome to 2017 beautiful people and welcome to my blog for another year :) Just last week I was in the beautiful but cold cities of Munich and Salzburg so of course, I had to pack a luggage full of practical winter clothes. The holiday was a very welcome break to ring in the new year with our friends and it was jam-packed with places and things we had to see and do.

I put together one of the most comfortable outfits to travel in without compromising on style of course. Luckily, I convinced my boyfriend to take pictures of the outfit before we departed Malta so I can share it with you guys.

I already owned most of the items I am wearing so I'm afraid you won't be able to find the exact clothes I am wearing in the shops. However, the coat, beanie and bag are still available as they are all new stock items. The boots have been in my collection for two years or so and they never let me down! They keep my feet warm and they never get wet inside so it's the perfect pair to travel to colder climates in. I really enjoyed wearing this Zara coat and River Island bag all throughout my holiday and they proved to be very good investment pieces.

I shall be traveling to Milan for the first time this month so do let me know if you'd like me to shoot outfit pictures there too :)
