Black and Gold Sunglasses | GlassesShop.com Review

Even though I wear spectacles on a daily basis, I enjoy wearing sunglasses (and contact lenses of course) on sunny days, thus when I was contacted by GlassesShop.com, I agreed to review a pair of eyeglasses from their extensive range.

Originally, I was offered a pair of prescription glasses frames but they were all a little too big for my petite face so we agreed that I was to review a pair of sunglasses instead. The selection process was quite difficult as GlassesShop.com offers an extensive choice of prescription glasses and sunglasses for everyone. Finally, after much deliberation I settled on the Gwendolyn Round pair in Black.

It took quite some time for the glasses to reach me but I guess they were well worth the wait! They arrived in perfect condition in their box and they even come with a lens cloth. The sunglasses are lightweight and I'm in love with the split gold design on the bottom half of the rim. I would classify them as oversize and I feel they add a glam touch to an outfit. I like that the nose piece has a sort of foam cushioning so that the glasses fit comfortably.

I wore my new sunnies last Friday morning to Valletta as the weather was bright. The glasses felt really comfortable all throughout and I must say I really enjoyed wearing them!

Review | La Roche-Posay Respectissime Soft Eye Pencil in Black

Recently, I have introduced you to an innovation from La Roche-Posay's dermo-cosmetic line and today I am bringing you another product from the range, the La Roche-Posay Respectissime Eye Pencil.

I had high expectations for this pencil as the Respectissime Mascara is still one of my favourites to date after having reviewed it a few years back so of course, with LRP always being consistent with their formulas I couldn't expect anything less!

The packaging is very basic with the product name and description being elegantly printed in white over the black colour of the pencil and the product comes sealed the first time round for your own protection.

It has a very soft texture and thus, the colour glides on easily though it is not the most pigmented black eye pencil I have used. Having said that, the staying power matches that of some of the best eye pencils I own.

The Respectissime Eye Makeup Range is targeted towards those with sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers thus you are guaranteed that no irritations will occur to the sensitive eye area. Respectissime Eye Makeup is available in pharmacies.

Unboxing Gianvito Rossi Plexi Pumps

A few days ago I posted a teaser picture of the Gianvito Rossi shoe box which had just landed on my doorstep. The contents? Well, I can finally say I am the proud owner of a pair of Gianvito Rossi Plexi Pumps!

It is my first pair of designer shoes and it took me quite some time to decide which pair would initate my collection and after seeing the Gianvito Rossi plexi pumps on a YouTube video, I immediately fell in love with them and began saving up.

In the meantime, I kept looking up reviews to make sure I was going for a good pair that would last me for a good number of years. Well I was pleased to know that many YouTubers claim that the shoes are very comfortable and the plastic doesn't cut into the skin. This was going to be the birthday and Christmas gift from me to me. To cut a long story short, after failing to buy the shoes in both Munich and Milan, as my size wasn't in stock, I resorted to buying the shoes online from the Gianvito Rossi website and after just two days, the shoes were on my doorstep!

The box they come in has luxury written all over it with an embossed stripe texture and the Gianvito Rossi brand logo stamped on the lid and the sides. The shoes come with a 'thank you' note and the order invoice (in separate envelopes) and a little card with care instructions. They also come with a dust bag and a little bag with two heel tabs.

I already wore the shoes and I can confirm they are very comfortable and they are a very classy alternative to the classic black pump. I chose the black suede variety for I think they are timeless and I already own a pair of patent black heels.

The shoes don't come cheap at €590 (+ €15 shipping fees) but well I guess it was a well deserved present to treat myself to :) I have a ton of outfits planned around these beauties so I guess the cost per wear will be justified soon enough :)

KIKO Milano Neo Noir Autumn 2016 Limited Edition Collection

KIKO Milano have once again teamed with designer Ross Lovegrove to bring us their Autumn 2016 limited edition collection, entitled Neo Noir; and of course, the packaging consists of stunning black compacts for the star products in the collection and bursts of dark colours for the other products.

pictures courtesy of KIKO Milano website

As usually happens with KIKO limited editions, the collection contains a lot of different pieces. This time I got myself three Sparkling Trail eyeshadows and a Graphic Gaze Double Eyemarker. The other products, although they look beautiful, I resisted getting them because I really don't have any more space for another blush/bronzer/highlighter.

The Neo Noir collection is inspired by the elegance of the colour black; more specifically, the flow of black silk - the ripples and the smoothness of it all which is reflected in the packaging of the face and lip products.

Sparkling Trail Eyeshadow 03, 04, 06 ~ €6.90 for 1.8g of product

These three shades caught my eyes instantly and the format is what convinced me to get them as they can be used as an eyeliner or as eyeshadows. The formula is very creamy and easily blendable but I do recommend you set them with a matching powder eyeshadow or translucent powder to ensure they don't budge or fade. They can go on patchy at first but the colour can be built up to a nice consistency with just a few strokes.

03 Sensual Burgundy - deep burgundy red
04 Feminine Emerald - shimmery emerald green with turquoise undertones
06 Rose Anthracite - charcoal grey with rose shimmer

Graphic Gaze Double Eye Marker ~ €8.90 for 1.5ml of product

This is a very cool product in my opinion and I really like the concept of it all but to be honest, I'm not entirely happy with it as the 'ink', apart from not being very black, it fades away easily and bleeds even with a primer. However, for those still curious to try it out for graphic eye looks, what you get is a double ended eyeliner pen with spheres instead of the usual pointy felt tip to help create unusual eyeliner looks.

The KIKO Neo Noir collection is currently available on the KIKO Cosmetics website.

Review | Pupa Milano Made To Last Eyes Long Lasting Automatic Eye Pencil Waterproof #100 Black

I'm back with a Pupa Milano review and please allow me to warn you it is going to be a rave review! So last December, I attended a bloggers' event where after oohing and ahhing over all the pretty makeup, we were presented with a goodie bag and among the products was a generous tester version of the Made To Last Eyes Long Lasting Automatic Eye Pencil Waterproof in the shade 100 Black.

I had already tried Pupa Milano's Multiplay Eye Pencil in the past and it is still one of my most reached for eye pencils. However, I was still very intrigued to try the Made To Last one just to see if it really lives up to its name. Well, I wasn't disappointed the least bit! Here are my thoughts on the performance of the product.

Starting with packaging, you know you're in for a nice little treat with Pupa Milano's attention to detail where they have cleverly incorporated a small sharpener and a smudger at one end of the pencil. I like that the product twists all the way down as it annoys me when you get these kind of products and the very tip sort of 'over-spills' and you get to chip it with the cap. Thankfully, this is not the case with the Pupa Milano Made To Last Eyes.

Another point to note on the packaging, are the caps. First of all they close tightly and I like that especially if you carry the eye pencil in your bag, the caps will not get all over the place and secondly, I like how they made them different with the one on the smudger end being transparent. I get annoyed with double sided eyeliners that have identical caps and I always open the wrong side so kudos to Pupa Milano for sparing me of unnecessary annoyance!

Now a word about the actual product. First of all, it is very creamy and glides easily even on the waterline which is where I use it most and the pigmentation is awesome! The small tip makes for precise application and definition.

As for longevity, on me, it lasts for a good number of hours and most of the time, I don't even have to re-touch it. As I said earlier, I like to use it on the waterline mostly and seeing how long it holds, I can confirm it is waterproof. The picture below was taken after wearing the product for 5 hours and it still looks intact!

I highly recommend this eyeliner and with 12 intense shades to choose from, you're sure to find one that complements your eyes best!

Pupa Milano Made To Last Eyes is available for sale from authorised stockists across Malta & Gozo. For more information, please check out the Pupa Milano in Malta Facebook page.

Review | Avon Mega Effects Mascara Blackest Black

Mascara is an indispensable makeup item and everyone should have at least two different formulations in their cosmetics bag. Sometimes, just a stroke of mascara makes you look wide awake and I for one, like to try out different formulations.

Avon have recently come out with a new mascara, aptly called, Mega Effects which comes in the most gadgety packaging ever, which ultimately is what lured me into buying this mascara. Here are my thoughts on it.

So, like I have just said, Mega Effects comes in a gadgety yet compact plastic packaging. You pull the pink cap off to reveal the actual applicator which you have to pull out of the black base and you will meet the innovative and extraordinary spoolie with a moving, ergonomic handle. It can be tricky to adapt your hands to the handle at first, especially if you have large hands but I promise, the results are well worth!

I find it is easier for me to move the handle to a 90 degree position and have the mascara applied right from the very base of the lashes to really make them pop. This mascara lives up to its name as you will get big, separated and well defined lashes right from the very first application and results last until you take the mascara off. I find that the mascara doesn't clump on me and I am really fond of the fanned out effect on my lashes.

Although it is not a waterproof formula, I always remove mascara with a waterproof eye makeup remover to ensure I take off all traces and my lashes are well cared for. I haven't experienced any irritations whatsoever when using this mascara and I will repurchase once I run out.

So if you're after a mascara that will actually make your lashes stand out (or you simply love unusual packaging), Avon Mega Effects is a good one to start with!

Have you tried Avon Mega Effects yet?

Review: e.l.f. Earth & Water Mascara Duo in Noire and Brown

Here's another elf product review. This time, the spotlight will be lit on Earth & Water Mascara Duo in Noire and Brown which are the only two shades available.

As usual, I am going to start with the packaging. What you get in your brown box is a bit different from what is shown on the website. I was hoping to get a mascara in a clear tube as shown in the site's image since that would show you how much product you've got left; but instead, I got both my mascaras in the opaque tubes that pop up when you click on the mascara swatches on the site. As you can see, the waterproof side is marked as such.

Now, on to the mascara. I am going to start with the brown one as it is the one I use mostly, in fact I have gone through both the regular and the waterproof sides in just over 3 months. The wands are your average mascara wands, so nothing special about them. This applies for the black mascara as well.

I like the way this mascara enhances my lashes in terms of length. As for volume, I can't say I noticed a huge difference but it did volumize my lshes a bit. Then again, this is neither a lengthening nor a volumizing mascara, just your basic everyday mascara. However, applying coats on top of each other and allowing some time for them to dry in between, you may achieve a false-lash effect. Another tip which works for me is, whilst I am applying my eyeshadow, I purposely let some fall on my lashes and then, when I apply my mascara, I will get longer and fuller lashes.

I am very pleased with the regular end but I cannot say the same for the waterproof side unfortunately. Although it does lenghthen my lashes and all, for me, it does not satisfy waterproof criteria. It is a pity because for the beach I prefer using a brown mascara as it gives me a more natural look, but I don't want to end up with mascara running down my face as soon as I emerge from the water!!! I think elf have to rethink the formula with this mascara. I don't know why but it seems the brown shades are never truly waterproof, even the Waterproof Eyeliner Pen.

On to the black mascara. The lengthening and volumising with this mascara is the same as its counter part. However, when it comes to the waterproof side, it is its total opposite. I really like the staying power of this mascara and the drama it adds to my eyes! Even at the end of the day, when I remove it with my make up remover, I still have to go over my eye (gently!) like three times to remove all the traces. Last Wednesday, I spent a whole day by the pool side with my bf, his aunt and cousin and even with all the chlorine in the pool, the mascara didn't come off!! I was actually pretty amazed with this.

On a concluding note, I think I would definitely buy the black mascara again but for a brown mascara, I think I will give the studio Lengthening and Volumising mascara a try.

These mascaras retail for £1.50/€1.70 each from elf UK's website.

Have you tried any of the Earth & Water or the studio mascaras ladies? Post your opinions here and stay beautiful!
