Review | Pupa Milano Made To Last Eyes Long Lasting Automatic Eye Pencil Waterproof #100 Black

I'm back with a Pupa Milano review and please allow me to warn you it is going to be a rave review! So last December, I attended a bloggers' event where after oohing and ahhing over all the pretty makeup, we were presented with a goodie bag and among the products was a generous tester version of the Made To Last Eyes Long Lasting Automatic Eye Pencil Waterproof in the shade 100 Black.

I had already tried Pupa Milano's Multiplay Eye Pencil in the past and it is still one of my most reached for eye pencils. However, I was still very intrigued to try the Made To Last one just to see if it really lives up to its name. Well, I wasn't disappointed the least bit! Here are my thoughts on the performance of the product.

Starting with packaging, you know you're in for a nice little treat with Pupa Milano's attention to detail where they have cleverly incorporated a small sharpener and a smudger at one end of the pencil. I like that the product twists all the way down as it annoys me when you get these kind of products and the very tip sort of 'over-spills' and you get to chip it with the cap. Thankfully, this is not the case with the Pupa Milano Made To Last Eyes.

Another point to note on the packaging, are the caps. First of all they close tightly and I like that especially if you carry the eye pencil in your bag, the caps will not get all over the place and secondly, I like how they made them different with the one on the smudger end being transparent. I get annoyed with double sided eyeliners that have identical caps and I always open the wrong side so kudos to Pupa Milano for sparing me of unnecessary annoyance!

Now a word about the actual product. First of all, it is very creamy and glides easily even on the waterline which is where I use it most and the pigmentation is awesome! The small tip makes for precise application and definition.

As for longevity, on me, it lasts for a good number of hours and most of the time, I don't even have to re-touch it. As I said earlier, I like to use it on the waterline mostly and seeing how long it holds, I can confirm it is waterproof. The picture below was taken after wearing the product for 5 hours and it still looks intact!

I highly recommend this eyeliner and with 12 intense shades to choose from, you're sure to find one that complements your eyes best!

First e.l.f. Cosmetics Haul of the Year!

Hello cupcakes :) Sorry for not posting this earlier but I needed to really go out and enjoy some company this weekend as with work and all, I was really missing my social life so on Friday, after I got some rest from my night shift, me and Johan headed out for the whole day and yesterday, after my day duty, we headed straight out with our friends for some drinks and catching up on life in general :)

Anyways, so on Friday, I came home to my little brown box from e.l.f. cosmetics *yayy!!* Johan was by my side and he just couldn't help shaking his head in pity and disapproval at my reactions as I opened the box really carefully not to damage anything and as soon as I made sure there were no damages what's so ever, I took everything out of the packaging to have a play with lol.

Enough rambling, here are some photos of the products, quick swatches and some initial impressions.  Reviews will follow once I have thoroughly tested everything :)

Studio Contour Brush

So far I have only tried the Contour Brush and the Mechanical Eyelash Curler and I can say I'm very happy with them! As scared as I was of the Eyelash Curler, I find it is quite easy to use :)  I have also worn the Glitter Gloss as soon as I took it out of the packaging and I can honestly say that I rubbed my lips together several times and I didn't get any cuts from the glitter and it wasn't that gritty at all.  I'm most impressed with the pigmentation as for a gloss, this is really pigmented.

So that's it for this haul post ladies :) Have you got any of these items? Do you consider getting any of them?

Make-Up Collection {Part 2 ~ Eye Products}

Following from Part 1 of my make-up collection, this post will show you the biggest part of my make-up collection... eye products.  I have accumulated quite a good number of products over the past years especially eyeshadows but I still enjoy buying any particular colours that I don't have, in fact I just ordered some new products from e.l.f. cosmetics :)

Eye products happen to be my favourite part of my entire make-up collection so much so that I have a palette that I have never used simply because the colours in it are so bright and beautiful that it makes me happy just by looking at it; and it looks too perfect to be used!

Let me start by showing you eye pencils, cream/cliquid eyeliners and mascaras first and then move on to the eyeshadows!  I love how you can play with different eyeliners to emphasize your eyes and create different looks accordingly so it's no wonder that I have quite a bunch :) I will also be sharing with you the different pairs of falsies I own as well as my preferred lash glue :)  I store my eye products in the second row of my cabinet (lashes and liners in the small drawer, eyeshadows in the wicker basket; I keep my most reached for on the cabinet itself).

I'll leave you to the photos now and I will also provide links to products that I have already reviewed and if you want me to review any of the non-reviewed ones, just let me know in the comments section :) Enjoy!

Mid-Week Beauty Masterclass: Eyeliner

Eyeliners are unarguably a must-have in each make-up drawer. Whether pencils, creams or liquids, each and every girl/woman has some kind of eyeliner in her stash!

The reason why eyeliners are so popular is because they can really enhance the eyes.  They re-define and shape them, not to mention that they make our lashes look thicker!  Eyeliners give you the possibility to wear them in a subtle manner or else go for more dramatic looks in no time!

Let's have a look at all the different formulas available!

Pencil Eyeliners are the most popular kind of eyeliners.  They are also very convenient to carry around in your purse for touch ups on the go.  Pencil liners come in a very vast array of shades and finishes and are very easy to apply. However, if you have oily eyelids, you can set your eyeliner with a matching eyeshadow to prevent smudging.  Just remember to sharpen yours frequently to avoid bacteria flourishing on them and store away from humidity and heat.

Cream/Gel Eyeliners have become overly popular these last couple of years.  Although they are not that convenient to carry around as you need a brush to apply these, I personally recommend them as they last all day! They are usually creamy in texture and as a result apply easily and smoothly.  They usually come in plastic or glass pots and I advise you store them upside down to preserve them for a longer time!

Liquid Eyeliners are usually of two types: felt-tip and brush.  The former is easier to control as the tip doesn't move around like a brush's bristles. However, you need a steady hand with both of these so make sure to practice! Liquid eyeliners dry out fast so make sure to always close them tightly.

Eyeliner Pens are a great alternative to liquid eyeliners as they offer the facility of a pen together with the intense pigmentation of a liquid eyeliner! These are also great to carry around in your bag as they are very much conveniently sized!  Again, these do tend to dry out so store them upside down to keep the liner revived for longer!

Cake Eyeliners comes in the form of an eyeshadow but when applied, it feels like a cream/gel eyeliner! You just have to use a wet brush with them and once they dry, they last for a good amount of time.

Eyesahdow can also be used as an eyeliner and this is a great alternative to all of the above types as you can have all the colours of eyeliner you would want!  If you decide to use your eyeshadow in such a way and apply it wet, just make sure that you always keep the wet area of the eyeshadow for that purpose as when eyeshadows get wet, they start to crumble.

Here is a diagram illustrating the best ways to apply eyeliner according to your eye shape:

I hope you found this post interesting! Personally, I prefer gel and pen eyeliners out of these for my upper lash line and pencils for my lower lash line.  Which are your favourite types of eyeliner?

First Barry M's!!...

...courtesy of my Dad! Well, actually a friend of his who owns a stationery and gave him this set of Barry M make-up for me which was being given for free with a magazine :D so I didn't fork out a single Euro cent for these beauties!

I got a Shimmering Body Creme which I will probably use as an eyeshadow base/highlighter;
a very shimmery purple nail polish;
a Special Edition Glossy Tube which smells like bubblegum;
and finally a pink Shimmering Eye and Lip Crayon

Reviews and swatches will follow soon ;)

NYX Jumbo Eyeliner Pencil in Milk has finally arrived!

After seeing a lot of videos on YouTube featuring this product, I decided to give it a go.  So I went on ebay and found this one for around €4.  I feared this might not arrive though because right after I paid for it, ebay sent me an email notification informing me that they have removed the listing because there was some kind of breach against their policy from the seller's side.  I contacted the seller but she said she had already shipped my item and ta da!! Today I got it! All packaged in cute pink paper wrap, a little green ribbon tucked in a bubble-wrap envelope :) Here are the photos:

Review will follow after I give this a through test :)

Review: e.l.f. Limited Edition Christmas Get the Look Set Day to Night

Hi cupcakes! I'm back with another e.l.f. review!

In the beginning of December/late November, I received this set from e.l.f. cosmetics.  I spent ages going ooh and how cute around the house before I oohed and awed even more on swatching the eyeshadows and trying  out the mascara, pencil and eyeliner :D  Here are some pictures to show you what I am talking about:

I really like the packaging on all these Christmas Sets with the snowflake motifs but due to lack of space, I had thrown it away :(  The set features two eyeshadow trios (Day - purples + gold & Night - black, green and frosty white), A Brightening Eyeliner in Black, Lengthening and Defining Mascara in Black and a Liquid Eyeliner in Black as well as two sponge applicators which are not shown as I felt they were too coarse to use on my eyes and threw them away altogether.

The Eyeshadows

The eyeshadows are really pigmented but not as sparkly as they look in the pans, except for the black and white shades which are really sparkly indeed!  With regards texture, they are a bit on the powdery side so I never risk not using a very good primer underneath these eyeshadows (I use an elf eyelid primer and Persimmon All Over Colour Stick Combo/cream eyeshadow to provide a good sticky base).  When a primer is used, these really last a long time without smudging or fading away.  However, even though the set is named Day to Night, I find the colours a bit too strong for day-wear; but maybe that's just me!  On a side note, the white shade arrived broken and its powder was all over the inside of the eyeshadow box.  I can't complain though as it was for sent to me for free!

The Mascara, Liquid Eyeliner and Brightening Eye Pencil

As I mentioned before, the set also contains a Lengthening and Defining mascara, liquid eyeliner and a pencil eyeliner all of which are black.  I really like the intensity of the black on these three and the mascara is my favourite one! It gives my lashes some more length and separates them for a fanned-out effect without clumping and it lasts all day!  The liquid eyeliner lasts until I take it off but the pencil fades away after a couple of hours just like most other pencils.  Overall I am really happy with all this though :) I am a bit disappointed because there is no other mascara named the same as this one in the set and I really really like it.

Swatches left to right: Brightening Eyeliner Pencil, Liquid Eyeliner, Lengthening and Defining Mascara

Like I said, I got this set for free but it is now on sale from the elf website for €6.35 instead of €8! Hurry as this stock is limited edition! P.S. Right now e.l.f. are also offering Free Standard Shipping (ends today at midnight)!

Review: e.l.f. Waterproof Eyeliner Pens in Black & Coffee

I can never get enough of eyeliner! I normally use pencil eyeliners to line my lower lash line. A slick of eyeliner just elevates a look to a whole new level and I really love that!

Whilst browsing the e.l.f. website, I was intrigued by these eyeliner pens mostly because of the pen format and the fact that they are waterproof. I decided to get two of them to try them out... Black and Coffee. I chose two neutral colours to give these a go and at £1.50 each, I wasn't going to break bank was I? Apart from Coffee and Black, there are also Ash, Midnight and Plum. You can have a look at them here.

What they say...

Get no smudge, no budge eyeliner that lasts for hours for a fabulous and fresh look of precision. The smooth pen applicator easily glides on color for very fine to bold lines for effortless beauty.
Directions

Hold applicator at a slight angle and apply color to the base of the lashes. Use a light touch for thin lines or a firmer touch for thicker lines. To remove easily use a water based makeup remover. Best stored tip down for ultimate color saturation.

What I say...

As usual, let's start with how the pens look. Their sleek, glossy black format rivals elf's studio line package. If you look at them from the side, they look like a concave lens, but one end is thicker than the other. Here's a picture so that you can get an idea of the size of the pens (I have very small hands mind you):

The colour of the pen is written on a sticker bearing the colour itself on the bottom of the pen. There is also the product name written in silver across one side of the pens. My Coffee one only has half of this present but that's not really a problem for me as I just look at the side and I know which pen is which without having to turn it upside down to check. To open, just pull out the cap!

On opening, you will immediately notice the fine tip of the eyeliner (very much similar to a ball pen, only thinner; refer to photo on the left for comparison). I don't know why but my Coffee eyeliner seems to have more of its tip out than my Black one but again, it's not a problem as it doesn't affect application of the product. The application is in fact the same as with other eyeliners but the sleek and sturdy pen design makes for an easier grip and a more steady application. Furthermore, the eyeliners are very pigmented and thus there is no need to rub at your eyes to get the product to mark.

Now let's come to the interesting part... are these eyeliner pens really waterproof?
Here's a swatch of the eyeliner pens (black is on top):

I have applied them in thick lines just for the sake of them coming out well in the photo because in reality, they stain a thin line.

Here's how they look after I ran water on them (I allowed 1 minute for them to dry):

There is no colour run or anything!

And finally here's how they look when I budged them while my hand was still wet:

As you can clearly see, the Coffee eyeliner is no longer there whilst the black one is intact. However, when I go swimming I usually use the Coffee eyeliner as it is more natural and it never budged! I guess it just needs more time to dry. On the other hand, there are no problems with the black one.

Overall, I like these eyeliner pens and would definitely repurchase along with some other colours maybe hehe!
