Review: E.L.F. Studio Lotion Wipes in Vanilla & Coconut

You have seen the E.L.F. Studio Lotion Wipes in Vanilla & Coconut in my July Favourites and now it is time for me to review them for you!

As soon as I saw these on the e.l.f. US website I knew I wanted to get them for travel purposes to avoid carrying bulk lotion bottles.  However, also like taking these wipes to the beach with me to remove that dry skin feeling that salty sea water gives me.

Let me start the review by saying something about the packaging.  Basically you get 20 18cm x 18cm moist wipes in a black plastic pack with a lid. I like that the packaging is black as it makes the product look more expensive than it actually it and I also like the image which is representative of the product scent.  The lid is very practical as it closes tightly and prevents the wipes from drying out once the inner seal loses its adhesive properties.

The wipes themselves are just the right amount of moist and I only need one to moisturize both my lower legs which is where I get dry skin the most. They are packed with moistuizing ingredients such as Aloe, Cocoa Butter, Vitamin E, Soy, Ginkgo Bilboa, Coconut Milk and Sweet Almond Oil to revitalize the skin.  I like that I am not left with a greasy residue on my skin and it doesn't tingle as some wipes tend to do with my skin. And last but definitely not the least, they smell amazing!! They totally remind me of summer which is my favourite season.

I totally recommend these wipes to anyone wanting an alternative to bulky lotion bottles and those who want to hydrate their skin on the go.

I cannot wait for the UK site to get the new scents of these wipes and I'm gonna get them in each and every variation!

The Studio Lotion wipes retail for €4.50 from the elf cosmetics website.

Review: e.l.f. Studio Glitter Gloss in Ruby Raspberry

Ever since the launch of these new Glitter Glosses by e.l.f. USA, I had my eye on a few of them but I only ended up getting one shade after I have seen/read mixed reviews on them and from swatches, this was the only shade that really appealed to me.

I got the shade Ruby Raspberry and since the product is part of the Studio Line, it has very nice, sleek black packaging and I like the transparent bottom as I can see how much I have got left. The tube is small enough to fit in a clutch bag so it is ace to carry with you for touch-ups. The applicator is not the usual doe foot but it is a brush applicator instead. While some people tend to dislike this kind of applicator, I can say I like it, maybe because I have never had any issues with it.  One final note on the packaging is that the gloss closes tightly and the cap aligns perfectly with the rest of the packaging without leaving any messy residues.

Now this gloss is true to its name in the sense that it is extremely glittery and hence you can pair it with other lip products to give your lips a sparkly look but it is pigmented enough to be worn on its own.  I personally like to pair it with the following lipsticks mostly: e.l.f. Sociable, e.l.f. Studio Matte Lip Color in Natural, & Catrice Ultimate Colour Lipstick in Pink Me Up!

I was kind of worried when I first got this gloss as I had seen countless reviews saying the glitter is very gritty and some even claimed they cut their lips on it.  With all honesty, I have never had such a problem with this gloss, but if you rub your lips together you will feel the glitter a little, just not as gritty as some have described it.  The texture is a bit on the sticky side but not too much (tip: eliminate stickiness by wearing the gloss over some lip balm). As for staying power, this gloss lasts around 3 to 4 hours on my lips.  One more thing I really like about this gloss is the sweet vanilla scent.

Overall, I would buy this lip gloss again once it's finished but if e.l.f. could use finer glitter, I think that would be better. I am really looking forward to try the Glossy Glosses now :)

The Studio Glitter Glosses are available in 10 sparkly shades from the e.l.f. cosmetics website and they retail for €4/£3.50 for 6.8g of product.

Review: e.l.f. Studio Translucent Matifying Powder

It's a nice sunny day here in Malta and I really wish Johan was on leave lol so we could enjoy the day outside but since I'm at home, I thought of posting about a new favourite product from e.l.f. cosmetics which I have been using very frequently since I got it.

You can tell from the title of this post that I'm going to review their Studio Translucent Matifying Powder so let me start by immediately showing you what the product looks like.  It comes supplied in a black carton box typical of the Studio line while the product itself comes in a nice, sturdy, professional-looking case with a nicely- sized mirror and a soft, sponge applicator.

Being so compact, the product is very handy to carry around in your purse and since it closes tightly, you won't have any issues with it opening and mess all your purse up.  Furthermore, the sponge and the mirror make it ideal for on-the-go touch ups.

The actual powder is a very fine, light pink-toned matifying translucent powder that it melts into the skin (so much so that I can't even swatch it!) to keep shine at bay so it is most suitable for people with oily skins but it can always be used as a light weight setting powder with any skin tone.  In fact, I like to use it for work most when I just apply a little concealer over the areas that need it and then set everything with this powder.  Doing so, I find my skin stays oil free for a maximum of four hours and then I just take the sponge applicator and dab a little more product to freshen up my look during the day.  One thing to note here is that the sponge contains latex so you may want to refrain from using it if you're allergic to the ingredient but the powder itself is latex-free.

I have washed the sponge several times and it has stayed as good as new and there are no signs of wear on it.  It does take some time to dry though so you may want to wash it well in advance before using it.  The product hasn't broke me out and I really like it's silky formula.  The only down-side I can think of with this product is that it only comes in the shade Translucent which although it melts into the skin, it may be a little bit too light for darker skin tones.  Also, I have seen reviews where people complained on the amount you get, as they say 3.8g is too little. Personally, 3.8g is enough for me as I only dab the powder on my t-zone area and under my eyes to set my under-eye concealer.

The Studio Translucent Matifying Powder can be purchased from the elf cosmetics website and it retails for €4.00/£3.50.

Review: e.l.f. Studio Blush in Candid Coral

Good morning all! How are you today? I'm really loving the weather these days... longer days, always sunny and much much warmer!  In fact, today I decided to review the e.l.f. Studio Candid Coral Blush simply because its colour reminds so much of summer!

Let's look at the packaging first...

When you first get it, the blush is supplied in a sleek black box with a window to show you the colour.  After you take it out of the box, the product itself is packaged in a sturdy, sleek black compact, again bearing a window to see which colour you are picking out.  On opening, there is a nice sized mirror on the inside of the lid and you also get a protective film on the blush.

This blush is a nice alternative to my usual pink and since I do not like how peachy-toned blushes look on me, coral is a nice in-between shade to experiment with.  Furthermore, this particular one has some gold reflects in it so it is perfect for both day and night especially in summer.  With regards pigmentation, this blusher is nicely pigmented and the intensity can be built up gradually.  I use a fluffy dome-shaped brush to apply this for day and a denser flat-top brush to apply it for night.  The texture is also very easy to work with as it is not powdery at all.

This blush stays on for quite a long time so I highly recommend it especially for the price... €4 for 4.8g!! You can view the whole range and buy your favourite shades from the e.l.f. cosmetics website :)

Review: e.l.f. Studio Powder Brush

OK, so I now there are loads. loads & yet again more loads of reviews out there about this brush be it blog posts or videos; that's why I got it in the first place, to see what all the hype/raving was about! Now that I have the brush and have been using it ever since, I totally understand the on-going recommendations!

First, let's see what the brush looks like:

It is a very dense flat-top brush and comes with its own brush guard and plastic pouch. The bristles are synthetic and are coated with anti-bacterial Taklon. Here are some pictures that compare this brush to my other powder brush from Fraulein 38:

You can easily see the difference in fluffiness and shape of the bushes... my Fraulein 38 one is more fluffy and dome-shaped than the elf one

The elf one is slightly shorter... well it's an elf after all :P

Being so dense, this brush is great to use with both powder and liquid formulations, however I do not recommend you to use it with very pigmented blushers, bronzers, etc as it will give a blotchy effect. The best way to use it is by dipping it in the product, tapping the excess off and work your way inwards with buffing circular motions to ensure the best blending possible.

Since it is flat-top, you can even use it to pick say bronzer or highlighter on one side of the brush only for contouring and precise application, and then use the same buffing movements to blend away. The ergonomic handle makes it very easy to control and achieve a flawless look.

I've had this brush for a bit more than a month now and during washing (and whilst in use for that matter), it has never, ever, ever shed a single hair!!! The only set-back for this brush is that being so dense, it takes ages to dry. I usually wash my brushes on Sunday morning, but by Monday morning, this would still be a bit wet. Apart from that though, I don't have any complaint what so ever about this brush. In fact, I can never raise enough praise for it!

I can't seem to stop reaching for this brush and I love it so much I'm going to get another one for sure! So I have to agree with all the other girls out there who raved on and on about this brush and suggest that if you don't own one yet, hurry and go get one from eyeslipsface.co.uk for a mere €4 for a brush that will last you probably a life-time! (just make sure you leave an extra one for me hehe).
