Mercedes-Benz MFWA 2014 | Gagliardi Fashion Show - 50 Years of Bortex in Malta

When it comes to choosing an impeccably tailored suit, Bortex always springs to mind first. The brand is celebrating 50 years in Malta and what better way to celebrate than to showcase one of the finest collections from their finest brands, Gagliardi?

Yesterday, the National Library hosted the next event for the Mercedes-Benz Malta Fashion Week - an aptly suited setting I have to agree.

Apart from exquisitely tailored suits and outfits for this coming summer and the following winter, us ladies were treated to some eye candy too...I'll leave you to the pictures to see for yourselves :) (photos courtesy of Dennis Calleja Photographer)

Gagliardi embodies the timeless appeal of Savile Row but adds a distinctive Mediterranean flair and a penchant for rich colour. The label combines the quirks of modern fashion: on-trend cuts, seasonal shades and varied textures, with a no-nonsense, old-fashioned approach when it comes to quality and craftsmanship and the use of luxurious fabrics.

The result is a rarity in menswear: realistically cut clothes that are shot through with clever little touches usually confined to catwalk collections.

And for me, fashion week ends here! I have really enjoyed the shows I attended and I look forward to next year's edition! I have to thank the Unique Fashion Studios team who is behind all this, for giving us bloggers the chance to be a part of it all as well as sponsors and all involved to make the Mercedes-Benz Malta Fashion Week and Awards a true success story.

The Exit Interview Series | Volume #32

This month I have been back on a roll with using up products and I also have a couple of products which I have given up all hopes that I will use them again so instead of them occupying space, I decided to wave goodbye and make some much needed room.

So, first up are two powder products which I used to like but they seem to have grown on me and I haven't reached for them in a long time. E.L.F. Mineral Blemish Powder used to double up as a concealer just because my skin is quite pale but nowadays I tend to stick to just one concealer and that also means less products on my face.

As for Rimmel London Lasting Finish Minerals Loose Powder Foundation, this seems to have oxidised and it doesn't match my skin tone anymore so it's no use keeping it.

The next product to have the same fate is E.L.F. Brightening Eyeliner Black. While it has very good pigmentation, staying power is horrible and smudges like crazy. I tried giving it a lot of chances but it just won't stay put and after trying other much better alternatives, I couldn't help not to chuck it out.

Up next, I have used up two of my favourite waterproof mascaras, Essence Get Big Lashes Volume Boost Mascara and Catrice Lashes To Kill Volume Mascara. I'm torn between the two to see which one I should repurchase once I run out of the other waterproof mascara I am currently using but I think I will go for the Essence one because I like the brush better.

Moving on to nails, I have used up Sally Hansen's Instant Cuticle Remover which I have repurchased a backup for long ago. I really love this product and my clients do to. It gives better results and gets rid of dry and excess cuticles in no time! Highly recommended! I have also used up Essence Quick Dry Top Coat. I used to hate this because it took ages to dry so I only used it when the base colour was completely dry and there it worked wonders. I also liked to use this to adhere rhinestones to the nails and they stayed put for as long as I wanted them to. Still not sure if I would repurchase though.

Trying perfume samples is the best way to determine if you like a perfume or not before parting with your cash because let's face it, perfumes can be expensive. This month I have used up two samples of Shakira Elixir and Kylie Minogue Pink Sparkle. While I liked the latter, I have found Elixir to be more of a spicy scent which is not really my kind of scent.

Moving to skin care, I have used up my Michael Todd Charcoal Detox Deep Pore Gel Cleanser and while it is a very good cleanser, I have switched to the gentler formula of they Honey & Oat Cleanser. Nonetheless, I do recommend this cleanser for oily/acne skin types. Another cleanser I have used up is the Mary Cohr Perfect Gel Cleanser (sample). Although I liked the texture of this, I didn't really like the scent so I'm sticking with my current cleansers.

I have also gone through a pack of Fresh & Clean makeup remover wipes. I have limited the use of these to clean up swatches and foundation from my hands while applying makeup rather than to take off my makeup at the end of the day because they made my eyes sting so no repurchase there.

La Roche Posay Cicaplast Levres has been a good friend to my lips this winter and I will definitely repurchase it. It provides a moisturising, protective barrier for the lips to combat signs of dryness and chapped skin effectively.

So, more samples. This time I have Angel Hair Care Water Depth Spa Shampoo which has proved to be a very good shampoo to rehydrate my hair and give it a nice shine; I also have this Gehwol Leg Balm which in my opinion is a leg saviour especially if like me, you spend a lot of time on your legs at work. It's a real treat that I highly recommend.

Lastly, I have a Coconut Body Scrub from The Body Shop. This is hands down my favourite from all the range and I have repurchased this countless times already. Definitely the best body scrubs I have ever tried!

Phew that was one long post! Any products you have used up and would like to share your thoughts on them?

Review | La Roche Posay Anthelios XL Dry Touch Gel-Cream SPF50+

Today, I will be reviewing the second product from La Roche Posay's Anthelios range that was kindly sent to me to test out, namely Anthelios XL Dry Touch Gel-Cream SPF50+. You can check out the review for Athelios XL Extreme Fluid here.

I was very excited to try this product out mainly because it is specifically tailored for oily/sensitive skin types, which is what I have and because I was curious about its gel-cream texture. The packaging is pretty standard, where the product is supplied in a 50ml tube format with a matching box and information leaflet.

The product has a very particular texture - looks like your conventional sunblock, a white fluid but it bears a dry, gel-like feel which reminds me a little of makeup primers. Anthelios XL Dry Touch Gel-Cream comes in two protection levels, SPF30 and SPF50+ which sustain the brand's 10 year commitment in the prevention of skin cancer.

It offers protection against UVA and UVB rays, is extremely water-resistant, absorbs instantly without leaving any white marks and most importantly, it doesn't make my skin feel greasy or shiny. I gave this product the ultimate test last Sunday while at a pic-nic with my boyfriend's family. The sun was scorching all day and I didn't even show the least sign of sunburn on my face. Moreover, the sunblock stayed put and my skin didn't feel oily at any time! The product contains Zinc gluconate which regulates sebum production, hence allowing the skin to stay oil-free longer. I had applied some makeup on top of the cream and it stayed put all day too!

I have found this product extremely useful while I am undergoing laser hair removal treatments. Undergoing such treatments, leaves the skin very sensitive and avoiding the sun is imperative to prevent pigmentation damage. Anthelios XL offers adequate protection and I definitely recommend this range of products. Worth to note is that I didn't breakout from using this product.

Anthelios XL Dry Touch Gel-Cream is paraben free, fragrance free and is non-comedogenic.

The La Roche Posay Anthelios range can be found in pharmacies around Malta & Gozo. More information on your nearest stockist can be obtained from their Facebook page.

Mercedes-Benz MFWA 2014 | Bridal Fashion Show

Lavish surroundings, fairy tale wedding gowns, beautiful models, a reception and of course stylish guests! This is what went down at yesterday night's Bridal Fashion Show at the La Vallette Hall within the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta, marking the fifth night of the Mercedes-Benz Malta Fashion Week for 2014.

An array of mesmerising wedding dresses were presented from three very different bridal houses, namely, Wedding Bells, Pronovias and Loredana Roccasalva Couture. All three houses have a distinctive character which is effortlessly embodied in their collections varying from the traditional laces and chiffon fabrics of Wedding Bells and Pronovias to the more daring options with feather details and a rich Sicilian feel of the house of Loredana Roccasalva Couture - a tribute to the designer's roots.

My favourite collection was the one from the Spanish house of Pronovias and I was overly delighted to learn that the collection showcased yesterday was actually by Elie Saab, my favourite wedding and evening gown designer!
