Little gifts that brought a little sunshine in my day :)

Hello ladies, so today I want to thank my Mum's work colleague for giving me these three little make-up products :)

My favourite is the eyeshadow.  I like how small it is and also, the colour is very beautiful... it's a light coral with plenty of gold reflects.  It's from No7 and it is in the shade number 50 Tender from the Stay Perfect range.

The other two products are a lipgloss and a lip liner (swatches on the left).  As you can see, the gloss comes out clear with a little glitter.  The applicator is quite sturdy so I like that.  Recently, I also came across a blog post which said that blue tinged lipgloss makes teeth appear whiter, so now I can try that :)

The lipliner is actually a dark brown in person and I quite like the shade. I can foresee me wearing it with darker lipsticks come autumn/winter!

The brand of the lip products is Farmasi.  I have never heard of this brand let alone try any products from it but I'm looking forward to see how they perform.  You can check out the whole range here.

Mid-Week Beauty Masterclass: Taking Care of Your Make-Up Brushes and Tools

Good morning everyone!! Today we will be taking a look at how to care for your make-up brushes and tools to make the utmost of them.  I will be sharing with you how I store and care for mine including cleaning routine etc... I hope you find this post helpful!  For a general idea of brushes and what are their best uses, please click here.

Storage
Let's start with storage... I always store my clean brushes in their brush roll and with the dust cover on.  When dirty, I like to keep them in a little pot I have on my vanity shelf but I still like to keep their dust cover on to prevent dust from adhering to the bristles.  When travelling, I suggest you take your brushes with the dust covers and put them in a case so that they won't get damaged.

All my brushes in their brush roll (top) and the pot I keep them in when dirty

Cleaning

I thoroughly clean my brushes once a week with Brush Shampoo while in between uses, I keep them as clean as possible by wiping them on a cloth dampened with a little Brush Cleaner.  Here are a few tis to bear in mind when washing your brushes to avoid them shedding hairs and coming off:

1. Always wash your brushes in lukewarm water and keep the bristles facing down so that the soap solution won't go into the ferrule and dissolve the glue in there.

2. Gently squeeze the wet bristles in a clean towel to absorb as much water as possible and hence cut down on drying time.

3. Leave the brushes to dry in a horizontal position so as to protect the glue inside the ferrule.

4. Make sure you rinse all the soap thoroughly from the bristles so as to prevent bacteria from flourishing in your brushes.  Also, never store away your brushes while still damp as this also creates the perfect environment for bacteria to breed.

5. Here's a little tip to save water and brush shampoo... clean your brushes with some brush cleaner first to remove as much product as possible.  This will in turn lead to less rinsing time (hence saving water) and less use of shampoo (saving on it and ensuring you remove it all!).

6. To clean brushes used for foundation, cream eyeliners, lipstick and other creamy products, if shampoo is not enough, simply pour a little baby oil in the palm of your dry hands and dip the brushes into it.  The oil will lift the product in no time and you can then wash your brushes like all others.  I use this method for lip brushes, cream eyeliner brushes and concealer brushes and I can confirm it totally works!

Taking Care of other tools

Some people prefer to use make-up sponges and puffs over brushes to apply certain products.  If you are one of these people, make sure you replace your sponges every so often as these tend to house a lot of bacteria. You can use the same cleaning routine as for brushes to clean them but always remember to replace them frequently.

Eyelash curlers and tweezers are also two of the most widely used tools in the make-up routine of many women.  May sure you clean yours thoroughly to avoid any nasty eye infections and always store them back in their pouches.

Finally, sharpeners have to be cleaned thoroughly with a little antiseptic spray to remove all left-over traces of other colours and prevent contaminating your pencils with bacteria.  For this reason, it is best if you clean your sharpeners both before and after use.

I hope you found this post useful ladies and if you have any more tips on how you take care of your brushes/tools, do post them in the comments below :)

Good morning cupcakes! Here's the nail art design I paired with my Easter outfit:

As you can see it is very easy to do so if you want to know how I did it, just keep on reading!

1. Prep nails with a clear base coat and paint the tips with any colour of your choice (I used Golden Rose Prestige in no.71)

2. Select another two or three colours and dot them in a zig zag fashion along the line that separates the tip from the rest of the nail. I alternated the colours as well and I used e.l.f. Dark Navy, Max Factor Nailfinity Red Passion and a white nail polish.

3. Seal everything with a top coat and you're done!

I hope all of you had a great Easter and enjoyed some yummy chocolates and treats :P

Good Friday make-up and pictures from procession

Here's another post for today lovelies (watch out for the Sigma Giveaway winner announcement in a few more minutes)...

Yesterday we attended the Good Friday procession in my home town.  The atmosphere was very reminiscent of a sad day and that's the way I like it! Good Friday and Easter are actually two of my favourite celebrations from the Christian calendar.  Here are some pictures of statues that men carry on their shoulders around the streets of Cospicua:

A street at night lit with candles

And here's the make-up look I wore:

I kept my outfit casual (sorry I do not have a picture of it) and chose to wear a pair of beige jeans and a patterned shirt with beige, cream, orange and khaki and topped it with a military army-green coat.

Here's a list of the products I used to create the look:

Gel Infills with Crushed Shells

Hey all! Here's the work I did on a client for Easter Sunday to match her top:

She opted for a sheer glittery turquoise tip and a crushed shells gradient on both the ring fingers and thumbs.

What do you think of this one?

A few updates :)

Good morning cupcakes! First of all, let me apologize for not posting yesterday but I had an uber busy day as I have in plan for today. I woke up at 6:30 which is very unusual to wake up this early for me these days! But as I said, I have quite a long day ahead as I have to amend my thesis a little (almost done now) and finish off a couple of assignments.  As today happens to be Maundy Thursday, I will visit a few Good Friday exhibitions and churches around Malta and later this evening.

Lastly, a quick reminder about my Sigma Giveaway! It will end tomorrow so make sure you get your entries in lovelies :)

Review: e.l.f. Duo Eyeshadow Cream in Eggplant & Black Licorice

Hello cupcakes :) Another elf review for today! I cannot believe I haven't yet reviewed these cream eyeshadows so here we go!

As for packaging, they are packed in a blister-type pack and when you take them out, you get a nice black round container with a transparent top so you can see the colours:

I have seen these eyeshadows being trashed because they crease a lot on various YouTube videos and blog posts but I still wanted to try a few and ended discovering that if used as bases for your powder eyeshadows, they work brilliantly!

My favourite out of the two is Eggplant because the colours are just so beautiful! They have a multi-tonal effect and look really good on.  Eggplant is also the most pigmented duo out of the two I have as both shades give a nice colour pay-off.  With regards Black Licorice, the black is much more pigmented than the grey, which requires more applications for some decent colour to show.

Green/Purple ~ Eggplant; Silver (heavy swatch)/Black ~ Black Licorice

The texture for these eyeshadows is quite creamy (duh!) and they apply and blend nicely onto my lids. One tip to avoid creasing is use a good primer underneath them and make sure you apply an adequate amount of powder eyeshadow to set them.  I wouldn't recommend you wear these eyeshadows alone but I like to use them as bases to enhance the colours of the powder eyeshadows I'm using.  So if like me, you like to match your eyeshadow base to the powder eyeshadow, I highly recommend these!

You can get yours from the elf website for only £1.50/€1.70 per duo!

NOTW: Sunflowers

Hey guys here's the nail art tutorial for this week :)

I opted for something quite bright here with the yellowy-golden polish, but spring/summer is all about having fun isn't it? Keep on reading to see how you can do this design yourselves :)

1. Prep nails with a clear base coat and apply two coats of a golden yellow nail polish on all nails except for the ring fingers. I used Golden Rose Paris Lacquer in no.41.

2. At this stage, you can top coat the painted nails and when dry, proceed with the design on the ring fingers.

3. For the ring fingers, paint diagonally tow coats of a dark purple polish.  I used a Special Edition shade from Barry M.

4. When dry, get a detailing brush and with the golden polish, paint five pointy petals to form a flower.

5. While you still have the brush at hand, paint three leaves on both extremities of the flower. Start by drawing two in the shape of a 'V' and then put one in the middle of it.

6. By means of a medium sized dotting tool, place one dot in the centre of the flower and then proceed by placing dots at regular intervals along the purple polish line as shown in the pictures.

7. Add a top coat and you're done!

Tag: 11 Most Reached for Products

Hello my lovelies! It's been a long time since I did a tag post and since I have been seeing this one going on around a few blogs and YouTube and it looks fun so why not do it myself? Now these are the 11 products I currently reach for the most although there are some which I always end up going for time and time again (you can have a look at some of these products here). Let's dig into this tag post!

1. e.l.f. Tinted Moisturizer in Rosy Beige ~ offers me the right coverage for everyday wear and matches my skin tone perfectly. Since it is not as heavy as a foundation, it lets my skin breathe.

2. e.l.f. Mineral Lipstick in Rosy Tan ~ the perfect my lips but better shade and its also very hydrating.

3. Napoleon Perdis Proetege Lip Gloss ~ I'm loving the orangey/coral lip trend this spring and this has been my go to lipgloss to create it!

4. La Roche Posay Lipikar Xerand Hand Repair Cream ~ the most moisturizing hand cream ever and it doesn't leave me it with greasy hands!

5. e.l.f. Studio Complexion Perfection ~ I'm so glad I bought this! It is my favourite setting powder as it neutralizes my skin tone.

6. Maybelline Water Shine Lipstick in 02 Beige Glace ~ a sheen shade of pink perfect for both day and night looks.

7. Rimmel Powder Blush in 004 Pink Rose ~ for me, this is the perfect pink blush to use all year round for a healthy flush to your cheeks.

8. e.l.f. Studio Cream Eyeliner in Metallic Olive ~ this is my fave eyeliner due to its creamy formula and also because it lasts so long.

9. e.l.f. Lengthening and Defining Mascara in Black ~ I love how this mascara makes me look like I'm wearing falsies and at €1.70 it isn't a big deal to replace when it dries out!

10. e.l.f. Eyelid Primer ~ makes my eye make-up stay put and also helps pop out the colours more!

11. essence stay natural concealer in 01 Soft Beige ~ my favourite under eye concealer as it hides my dark circles to perfection!

What are your 11 most reached for products ladies? I tag all of you to do this post! Can't wait to see your responses :)
