Pretty sandals and unkempt feet don't really go well together. Though the key is regular pedicures throughout the year, sometimes we need a bit of extra help to get rid of dry skin and heels. Enter SVR Xerial Peel.
The lovely people behind the brand here in Malta had sent me this peeling foot mask right before our wedding. However, I already had a pedicure booked and my shoes were closed pumps so I put off trying the mask until a few weeks later in preparation for our honeymoon.
If you're new to SVR, here's a bit of information about the brand. SVR is a dermo-cosmetic brand, founded in 1962 by a couple of French pharmacists, Simone & Robert Véret with a vision of creating a brand that has beauty and health in perfect harmony with each other. Their formulations contain the highest possible dosage of active ingredients without affecting skin tolerance, especially that of sensitive skins.
The SVR Xerial Peel is one of their best-selling products and it is basically a foot peel. If you don't like looking at peeling feet, now is the time to close this tab, otherwise, if you're interested in the results, just keep reading!
The packaging is very simple and befitting a dermo-cosmetic brand - clean and pretty self-explanatory. Inside the box, you get a pair of socks containing the peeling solution and a sheet of stickers to hold the socks in place.
All you have to do is just open the socks, pop them on your feet and tighten them with the stickers, wear them for an hour and then rinse off the remaining product thoroughly with water.
You will not see your feet peeling right away of course but it will take approximately 2-3 days for the first signs of peeling and 10 days for your feet to peel completely. I took some pictures of my feet throughout the following 10 days and boy did this thing work!
During the first few days, my skin was sort of cracking on the surface but it still felt smooth, if that makes any sense; but from day 5 onwards, large bits of skin started to peel off. I slept with a light pair of socks on as it would have gotten a bit ugly in bed with all those bits of skin falling off. By the 10th day, my feet were ready to be shown off! I loved this foot peel so much I went ahead and bought one for my mum who has struggled with hard skin on her feet for a long time. I think the results speak for themselves and I would totally recommend this as a quick fix for gorgeous summer feet! Noteworthy is that effects last for 3 months, during which you can skip the pedicure appointments ;)
However, please remember that peels should always be used carefully and always make sure to consult our doctor before attempting one if you have any health concerns or conditions. Also, the hard skin on our feet serves as a protective barrier so a thin layer is OK and there is no need to do the peel very frequently. I'd say every couple months or so should be enough.
SVR Xerial Peel retails for €25.35 and can be bought from pharmacies across all Malta & Gozo.
