Review | Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil Dime

This month I was experimenting with coloured eye pencils all the time and one of my favourites turned out the be Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in the shade Dime. This was actually my first UD product as and I had received it in of the Meg's Makeup points packages. I have always wanted to try UD as reviews about their products are almost always positive but we do not get the brand in Malta and to buy it over the internet, is quite expensive; consequently, I was really delighted to see this in my package!

 

The pencil comes packaged in a slim purple box that has the ingredients and product description printed on it as well as a sticker the same colour as the pencil and the shade name printed on it. The actual pencil also reflects the colour of the product and the shade name is also printed on it. The cap closes tightly and firmly and the lead can be sharpened whenever the need arises.

 

 

 

 

Dime is a shimmery silver shade with excellent pigmentation. It will make a nice eyeshadow as well but you have to be quick as once it dries, it stays put. Whenever I wear this, it lasts until I take it off and it is also waterproof so you can even wear it for a day at the beach. Only waterproof makeup remover is effective at removing it so bear that in mind to avoid tugging unnecessarily at your eyes.

 

 

Even though it is a little pricey, I would recommend this product to waterproof makeup fanatics and pretty much anyone else really!

Review: Artdeco Soft Kajal Liner 80

I had this eyeliner for a couple of years or so but I don't reach for it that often. Although it is a nice colour, I prefer to use it in summer, but sometimes I still hesitate to use it. Read on to see why.

First. let me show you what this eyeliner looks like:

Just a regular eyeliner pencil with the cap and the bottom part showing the actual colour. It bugs me that there is no shade name but just a number on the pencil (80), but when I looked it up on the internet, just to make sure that the number actually corresponds to a shade and not just part of the range name, I found out that this particular shade is actually called Blue Sky.

This pencil has a soft texture but you have to tug and pull at your eyes to get some decent colour on. I really don't like the smell of this pencil... it stinks! It has always been like that and this is the main reason that keeps me from using this pencil as often as I would like. Furthermore it doesn't last at all! After an hour at most, it just fades away even with a primer underneath. Here are some swatches to demonstrate pigmentation and the actual colour:

At this point, I bet all of you will agree that this is a gorgeous colour and it is a pity it has so many faults. In view of all this, it is the only eye pencil from Artdeco that I own and I'm afraid it will be the last!

Review: Estee Lauder Eye Defining Pencil in 12 Deep Brown

Like a black eyeliner, a brown eyeliner is a must for me, especially to achieve a more natural day look. My favourite is Estee Lauder Eye Defining Pencil in 12 Deep Brown. Again, my aunt got this for me and I am trying to really save it for a long time to go!

Here's what it looks like:

So, it's your basic eye pencil, nothing extraordinary about it (P.S. I lost its original transparent cap and the one you see in the pic is a replacement). I like this eyeliner for it's deep brown tone as it really makes my eyes stand out even when I use it with subtle day make-up. Here's a swatch:

You can see it is very pigmented and with regards longevity, this lasts more on the upper lash-line rather than on the waterline or lower lash-line. It doesn't smudge though... it only fades a little. A little primer however, helps it stay put. 

I'm already on the look out for a back-up because I so don't want to run out of this marvel!
