Review | Philip Kingsley Moisture Balancing Shampoo & Conditioner {Travel Sizes}

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of attending the Philip Kingsley London launch at Professional Health and Beauty Services in Mosta and at the end of the event, all those in attendance were each handed two samples of the Moisture Balancing Shampoo and Conditioner.

I have switched to using both of these from the day after I got them and I have used up the shampoo for fourteen washes (I wash my hair twice in one session) and the conditioner for 7 times and there is still left for more uses!

The samples come in small, white plastic tubes and each contain 20mL of product, very generous I have to say and this will enable you to really judge the product's performance before buying the full-sized versions. On a side note, all Philip Kingsley products come in travel sizes (also 20mL) so you can opt to buy those first to see if the product works for you or not.

As you can see the packaging is quite simple and reminds me a little of medicated cosmetics but at the same time, it is designed to reflect the professionality and trichological background of the brand. Philip Kingsley is all about maintaining a healthy scalp besides healthy hair, hence all of their products and ingredients are backed by scientific research and knowledge in Trichology, which is a branch of Dermatology that studies the scalp and hair in both health and disease. So you can say Philip Kingsley is a sort of medical-cosmetic brand and I think the packaging really fits it.

The Moisture Balancing Shampoo and Conditioner are designed for medium textured, wavy hair and chemically processed fine textured hair and my hair fits neither category because it is very fine and oily but I still wanted to try them.

So I shampoo, condition and style my hair as usual and I have seen a drastic improvement in volume from the very first wash! As for the moisture balancing action, I find my hair turns greasy less frequently than it used to and my hair holds a style for longer. When I used the products on subsequent times, I also noticed a decrease in the amount of hair I lose when washing my tresses.

As for texture, the shampoo looks and feels runny compared to other shampoos while the conditioner is more dense yet still a little on the watery side and pearly white in colour. The shampoo lathers up nicely and smells a little bit like a medicated product. The conditioner, on the other hand, smells nicer and I would describe the scent as light, pleasant and floral.

The price may turn out to be a major concern to some but overall, I highly recommend Philip Kingsley products but I will be buying the Body Building Shampoo and Conditioner which are more suited to my hair type along with a couple of other products as soon as they hit the shelves. Yepp, this year, I will buy myself a healthy scalp and hair for Christmas!
