Dress Code: Elegant

Today I am posting a couple of throwback pictures from our trip to Trapani last April, specifially from one of my favourite nights - going out to dinner to Osteria I Vitelloni which serves delectable meat and fish dishes. For the occasion, all four of us girls chose to go all out and wear a gorgeous dress each from London F Cafe' in Baystreet.

We opted for a sleek hairstyle to let the dresses shine through and each one of us paired her dress with a gorgeous bag and shoes. Of course I wore my favourite pair of heels - the Gianvito Rossi Plexi pumps and the bag is one I bought quite a few years back from Peacocks. The dress on the other hand is from Lipsy London and I felt like a million dollars in it! I admit it's a bit out of my comfort zone and it's not something I am usually seen in but I really loved wearing it and just having fun with amazing company :) Here is what all of us girls wore on the night :)

Fashion meets Travel in Sicily

The month of April saw the beginning of some amazing friendships and a fun, jam-packed weekend in Trapani, Sicily which I will look back to fondly in the weeks, months and years to come :) Sicily is a beautiful island with picturesque scenery all around, thus, the organizer, Grazielle surprised us by co-ordinating a very colourful photo-shoot in collaboration with United Colours of Benetton Malta to make the most of the beautiful backdrops that this country offers.

She got us all different coloured tops and matching bags and managed to keep it all a secret until Saturday morning! Grazielle also got us colourful hoop earrings from Primadonna Collection (Sliema). Originally, we were meant to take the photos in the ancient ruins of Segesta temples but since it was raining, our driver took us in the vicinity of Marsala where the weather was thankfully much better and we stopped to take pictures in the middle of fields and later to an idyllic beach at Paceco dubbed Tahiti by the Sicilians. The latter provided the perfect summery background to match the colourful tops and our good mood!

So you see, casual can be fun and bright! Special thanks go to guest photographer Ron Kerr for the amazing job he did with capturing some perfect moments with all these beautiful ladies, the company of whom I enjoyed very much!

Ladies Trip to Trapani, Sicily with Blog by Grazielle

Just two weeks ago, I was enjoying the last few hours of a fantastic weekend break in Sicily organized by Blog by Grazielle together with Marija
, Kirsten and guest photographer Ron Kerr.

Our adventure started on Friday afternoon when we met at Malta International Airport, all in beaming smiles ready to see what the weekend and Trapani had in store for us! I have only visited Sicily once before and I fell in love with the island so much that I couldn't say no to this girls only trip. 

Trapani is a province on the west coast of Sicily, bordered by the Thyrrenian Sea on the north and the Mediterranean Sea on the south with the city of Trapani being it's capital. Being surrounded by the sea, it is very evident that Trapani's main source of income is tuna fishing with trawlers scattered all around the port and the fishermen selling their fresh catches during the Sunday market. Other economic activities Trapani is known for, are coral fishing salt and wine production and artisanal, hand painted ceramics.

We stayed at the B&B Belveliero Trapani which is a small, family run bed and breakfast located on via San Cristoforo right off the promenade and a 5 minute walk from Trapani Old Town. Giovanni, our host, made sure all our needs were seen to whether it was a taxi service, restaurant and shopping recommendations and just generally feeling at home.

Me and Marija had the smallest room from the three prepared for us but it had everything we needed - clean and comfortable beds, a nice, spacious en-suite bathroom with hot water, and free Wi-Fi with optimum signal strength. The decor is typical Sicilian with an ornate headboard on our beds and pretty floor tiling. The view from the balcony was breathtaking and it was all I needed to refresh my brain. Breakfast was delicious every single morning especially the strawberries and Sicilian croissants. A small selection of cakes, olives, cheese, ham, bread and cereal as well as different flavoured yoghurts completed the food repertoire. As for drinks, there was quite the choice - coffees, teas and juices, just take your pick! At €33 per person per night, I think the B&B Belveliero Trapani is excellent, if anything for the comfy beds, views and it's prime location.

Us ladies got to see quite a good number of attractions Trapani is known for, mainly the ancient ruins of Segesta, the Medieval hill-top town of Erice, the salt pans at Paceco and of course, Trapani Old Town where we found our favourite restaurant, Osteria I Vitelloni which has served us all impeccably presented and equally decadent dishes on the two occasions that we dined there. My personal favourite is the Tuna Tagliata with a pistacchio crust. The Lindt Gelateria is also a must visit for anyone with a sweet-tooth - any Lindt chocolate flavour you can imagine, is transformed into a delicious ice-cream! Sicilian cannoli are not be missed and the best we've had are the ones from Eurobar di Dattilo at Paceco.
