Review: The Body Shop Born Lippy Passionberry Lip Balm

After a short break from reviews, today I get back on track and review The Body Shop's Born Lippy Passionberry Lip Balm.

I'm sure most of you are familiar with these lip balms, but here are some pictures to show you how it looks (sorry the label is a bit torn):

The plastic pot contains 10ml of product which I think is a good amount as this lasts a very long time (I've had mine for around 3 years I think and I use it on a daily basis). What I don't like about the packaging is that it isn't that sanitary; in the sense that you have to use your finger to pick up the product, it ends up under your nails etc. Due to this, I don't carry mine with me, but leave it at home and apply it with a lip brush before I head out. I think a tube would be a better alternative.

The consistency is fairly thick, and a little goes a long way. It resembles a lip gloss in terms of application as it turns out glossy but it is not sticky and smells exactly like the fruit it is supposed to! The smell translates to an equally scrumptious taste ;). With regards longevity, it doesn't last long on my lips, but perhaps that's because I lick it all the time for it tastes so good (I don't want to think about how much of this product I have eaten!). It feels very very very moisturizing on the lips. In fact, I like to use it most when my lips feel chapped and dehydrated and after a few days, they are back to normal.

Would I buy this again? Definitely yes! In fact this is my second out of the range as I had a strawberry one before this.

Have you ever tried any of these lip balms ladies?

More Make-up Shopping....

So, last weekend, Mum went shopping with Dad and she called me to say that they had some new make up in from this brand called BYS. I have never heard of this brand so I looked it up on the internet and found out it is an Australian drugstore brand and they sell all kinds of cosmetics and they seemed of decent quality.  Yesterday, I went with the bf to check the stuff out. To my dismay, there was only a small stand with very basic cosmetics on sale. I really wanted to get some of their eyeshadows and cracked effect nail polish. In the end I picked up two items which cost €2 each! Here they are:

Black Waterproof Mascara & Passion Pink Nail Enamel

I really love the colour of this varnish. It is like a pearly pink with iridescent lilac and blue particles. When swatching, I found the formula easy to work with and dries quickly. Will do a review when I have tried this on my own nails!

The mascara... you get 7ml of mascara which is a good amount since you have to change mascara frequently. It is a waterproof mascara and I got mine in Black. To be honest, I didn't expect much from a €2 mascara but I was genuinely surprised. I wouldn't say it give the lashes a dramatic look or anything, but it is a good day masacara. I like the fact that you have a long handle as I find it allows more control. Here are some pictures:

The shopping doesn't stop there... this morning I went to the weekly market with my Mum and she bought me another nail polish :D and a pair of hair clips as well as since I am growing my hair, I need them. I also picked up a pair of cute undies but there are no pictures of it as I think it's a bit too much to flash my undies here hehe  :)

The nail polish seems to offer an even application from the first coat despite it is a glittery one and doesn't take that long to dry either. It cost €1.75, the clips were a €1 for a pair and the undies were €2.50.

Have you bought anything lately cupcakes?

How to deal with puffy eyes...

... last night and this morning I was lucky enough to have a bad hay fever attack. Result! Puffy eyes the size of tennis balls! I'm sure most of you have suffered from puffy eyes whether from tiredness, lack of sleep or like me hay fever, so here I will tell you how I deal with the situation.

Camomile Infusion!

That's right! Camomile infusion does it for me. What I do is I prepare a camomile infusion simply by heating (not boiling) some water and leave a camomile bag in it. When the water turns to a yellowish colour, I remove the bag and dip two cotton discs in the solution, squeeze out excess infusion and pop over my eyes for at least 10 minutes. The puffiness is instantly reduced and I can face the day!

Keep it cold!

Another trick is to store your eye gel/cream in the fridge to provide your eyes with a chilly treat. The chill will de-puff your peepers in no time. Remember to use gentle circular motions with your ring finger to apply the product.

Passing a table spoon under a stream of cold water then gently pressing the convex part on your eyes will help as well.

Soak two cotton pads in cold milk and place over your eyes for 10 minutes to soothe tired eyes.

Use your fingers... and hands!

If you experience puffy eyes from lack of sleep, here are another two ways to deal with them!
1. Gently press your middle finger along the eyebrows, lids and beneath your eyes to reduce the puffiness and improve blood flow.

2. Alternatively, cup your hands on your eyes and gently press the bottom part of your hands over the puffy areas to feel the heat they generate for at least one minute.

Forget Cucumber!

Yes, you read right! Instead of cucumber, place a potato slice on each eye and relax for 10 minutes. The starch in the potatoes will firm the skin and banish puffiness!

Have you heard of these remedies before ladies? I hope you found this post useful and feel free to post what works for you in the comments box!
