Review: e.l.f. Therapeutic Conditioning Lip Balm in Vanilla Creme

Hello cupcakes! I'm back with another elf review and this time, it concerns the Therapeutic Conditioning Lip Balm in Vanilla Creme from their essential line.  I got this a few months back as I needed a lip balm that I could carry with me and use without having to stick my finger in it etc.  There are three other flavours to choose from, but like I always do when vanilla is listed as an option, I opted for it ;)

When I got the package, the lip balm was packaged in the usual way as the elf essential make-up is and to be honest, I expected it to be a bit bigger.  However, when you twist all of the contents up, you get a fair amount of product so I cannot complain.  Furthermore, I have been using this quite a lot and there is still a good amount of product left over.  The actual packaging is pretty plain and standard so nothing special there.  A quick word on the twist-up mechanism... when I twisted the whole product up for this review and then tried twisting it back down into the tube, I had to help the lip balm myself by pushing it back with my finger; so be careful here.

What I like most of this lip balm is the scent and the fact that being so small, it can easily fit in the smallest of purses.  Considering I love the scent so much I'm constantly licking it off my lips, this product does a good job of staying on at least an hour so I'm pretty pleased with that too.

On the other hand, what bothers me is that when I apply it on my lips, it doesn't go on clear but it leaves a whitish residue behind so I don't even dare to wear it on its own.  Other than that, it feels very moisturizing on my lips and leaves them feeling oh so soft.

You can get yours from the elf cosmetics website here.

EDIT: I have recently thrown this away as it was making my lips burn on application so I will not be repurchasing it

Mid-Week Beauty Masterclass: Eyebrow Fillers

Hello my lovelies! I hope you're all doing great! After last week's absence, the Mid-Week Beauty Masterclass is back again with all the other posts :D This week, we will have a look at the Cinderella of our faces... eyebrows and ways to fill them in to polish up our look.  I referred to them as the 'Cinderella of our faces' simply because we tend to neglect them more often than not; but nicely shaped and well-groomed brows are essential to give us a more polished appearance.  For more information how to groom your brows, check out this post, then hit 'backspace' to see which eyebrow filling method works best for you!

Eyebrow pencil is the most common form of eyebrow filler.  It is very easy to control and you have to be careful so that it doesn't look too harsh or unnatural.  You can find eyebrow pencils in an array of neutral shades that match most eyebrows and most of them come with a little blender as well.  Pencils are also practical to carry around due to their smallish size. Always remember to keep the point sharpened for a more precise application!  Eyebrow pencils are also a much more natural-looking way to draw brows from scratch, especially for people who used to shave off their brows completely... eyebrow tattoos are way too harsh and unnatural if you ask me!

Here are a couple of diagrams that show you how to fill in brows and define your arch:

Eyebrow wax/powder compacts are a more practical and handy alternative to pencils as they usually also come with a mirror and a little applicator brush.  You first fill your brows as needed with the powder and then put on a little wax to help seal everything for a longer time than a pencil lasts.

Eyebrow mascaras are literally like mascaras that come in a range of colours similar to the eyebrow pencils that you can coat your eyebrows with for a fuller look.  Clear eyebrow mascaras are used to keep your brows in check during the day!

Review: Montagne Jeunesse Cucumber Peel-Off Masque

Good morning beautiful people :) Today I will be reviewing another Montagne Jeunesse face masque.  By now, you may have noticed how much I love MJ face masques. I love all their range so I'm constantly looking for new ones to try and this masque right here was a case in point! I was sent this masque for free and I was delighted that it was one I have never used before.

As usual, here's what the sachet looks like... I'm a fan of the pink colour of this sachet as much as I am of the results delivered!  The only two things that bothered me are the smell of methol that burned my eyes a little as the masque was settling on my skin and a little itchy patch I woke up with the next morning on the side of one of my cheeks.

The masque has a gel-like consistency but is more on the watery side.  It has a light green tinge to it but it goes on clear.  I do like the refreshing smell of vapour-rub even though I expected it to smell like cucumbers.  I also like the results this masque delivers so I put up with the burning eyes hehe :)

Peeling off the masque is very easy... fun actually!! It is like peeling a layer of plastic to reveal the nice, smooth and radiant skin underneath!  And the best part is... I checked my nose immediately as that is where I get most black heads and.... there was not even one in sight! How's that for a deep cleaning masque?  The itchy patch did bother me though, but it was nothing a little cream didn't get rid of.

I find that peel-off masques do not have that much product as the thicker ones so I guess you will manage something around 3 applications out of this sachet.  I have only used this once as I didn't want to get another itchy patch on my face though.

Have you ever tried this masque ladies? What are your feelings about it?

More haulin'....

Good morning ladies! How are you all after the weekend? Mine was pretty much a relaxing one now that I have got my dissertation and assignments out of the way so I could focus more on studying.  Anyways, yesterday I woke up a bit late and Mum greeted me with a smile and said 'go get yourself ready, we're going to Sliema'.  In an hour, we were out the door and in my Dad's car, on our way to The Point (largest shopping mall in Malta).  The mall itself has opened its doors for the first time last year and as a 1 year celebration, the shops were open all throughout the weekend, including Sunday.  We only shopped at New Look though as I was looking for a skirt to go with the jacket I'm wearing on Easter Sunday.  I also got another slouchy cardi as the ones I got are every so comfy yet stylish as well as two Montagne Jeunesse face masques as I have never tried this particular one.  Here are the photos:

Enjoy your week lovelies and stay beautiful!
