Yesterday evening marked an important date in the local fashion calendar - the Pink Fashion Show which was held in the elegant surroundings of seventeeth-century Palazzo de Piro in Mdina, our old, history-rich capital.
I knew we were in for a treat the moment the invitation came through my letter box. I always say that the standard of an event can be hinted at from the invitation and I definitely was not let down! I met up with fellow bloggers
Mariel,
Stephanie,
Lyndsey and
Dorianne (seen below goofing around and being paparazzied by
Mark Soler) and together we climbed the stairs to the glorious rooms which were to be graced with models showcasing collections from various brands as well as two local designers.
Prior to the main event, we had the chance to revel on the beautiful masterpieces that the luxury 88 Rue du Rhone watches are and I was pleased to see they even cater for ladies with practically non-existent wrists like mine - can't wait to have my own timepiece from the collection in fact! The men will also find something they like from the various exquisite offering which make up 60% of the whole collection.
Now for the actual fashion show. The arts were the inspiration behind it all this year, and practically every element contributed towards the theme where classical and modern art collided in perfect harmony. Classical art was represented in the form of the palace itself and paintings adorning its walls, ballet dancers which accompanied the models and piano music that was played throughout the show. Of course, modern art was also incorporated in the form of the clothes the models wore, the lush platforms (courtesy of LOFT) and the sketches by the talented Saz Mifsud who also had her own clothing collection to showcase during the event.

In fact, this year was the first ever year that the show gave the opportunity to two local fashion designers to showcase their collections, namely
Saz Mifsud and
Carla Grima Atelier and I have to say that both designers have outdone themselves in a very good way! Well done!

The other brands that took part in the fashion show were Joseph Ribkoff,
Furla, Calvin Klein Jeans,
Bata,
Guess Jeans,
Liu Jo,
River Island and Stradivarius; all of which showcased pieces from their latest collections and definitely had me taking note of the ones I'd like to own.
The models' hair was styled in elegant updo's, often with braids which were also a work of art in themselves and their makeup was kept to a minimal, natural look.
Once again, thank you
Pink Magazine for having me at the event and well done to all involved!
