Monthly Favourites | September

September didn't bring too many new favourites my way and I only have five products to share with you guys.

The first one is quite a bargain actually, it is this £2 Angelica Nail Polish that I got from Primark last March. This particular one is the shade Tantrum which has Autumn written all over its duochromatic burgundy hue. I love the metallic finish and the colour shifts from burgundy to gold with green reflects - it is truly a unique shade. I was really impressed with the quality of the polish and this is what compelled me to include it in this month's favourites. The polish applies well and it lasted for a full seven days before I noticed a small chip on one of my fingernails! Seven days, one chip! Incredible for a £2 polish right?! Definitely grab this if you come across it!

Another nail product I have to share with you this month is Max Factor Glossfinity 05 Top Coat. I originally bought this just so that I can wear a glossy clear polish on my nails if I want to but while I was at it, I figured no harm would be done if I used it as a top coat for my manicures too. I wasn't wrong as this gem makes manicures last really long and stays glossy all throughout.

Next I have this Essence XXXL Nude Lipgloss in 03 Taste The Sweets. Nudes are always favourites of mine, be it lip products, eyeshadows, nail polishes, you name it! I really like this one in particular because of the smell, it is not sticky and the colour goes with everything and complements my complexion very well; and well, this month saw me reach for it more often.

The last two products are both mascaras. Now I have gone through my stash this month and got rid of bad smelling mascaras and started using new ones. My favourite so far is the Essence Lash Princess Volume Mascara. I love the packaging of it and the wand does a very good job at volumising my lashes. I am really keen on trying the new false lash effect version of this mascara which I have but haven't opened yet.

And of course, to turn this mascara into a waterproof version, all I need is the Kiko False Lashes Concentrate Waterproof Mascara Top Coat!

September Collective Haul

With the weather getting a little colder, for me that means summer is over thus this month I couldn't resist not buying new clothes and accessories for autumn. As much as I hate winter and the colder days, I have to admit that I much prefer the warm colour palette of autumn hues such as burgundy, dark greens, rust, mustard etc along with the more tailored and sophisticated garments that keep us cosy all throughout so I always enjoy shopping at this time of year.

Luckily, some stores still had sales going on and I managed to grab a few bargains as well to complement this smallish haul. This month has also been good to me in terms of gifts for I got some cool accessories as gifts from events and people in my life. Read on to see what I got!

First up, Orsay! The brand has opened another flagship store at The Point in Sliema earlier this month and since I was invited to the event, I had to go and pick up some pieces ;) I have 352689741 Breton tops in my wardrobe yet I couldn't pass this half-sleeve one up. It was only €15.99 and the stripes are narrower than any other one I have (this is the main excuse I use whenever I buy a new top of the sort - the stripes are different). It features an off-the-shoulder fit and it is very comfy and obviously, goes with a lot of bottoms! I also picked up this embellished pink jumper for €29.99 and I look forward to wearing it once the weather gets colder. The tassel bracelet has been a favourite this month and it was only €5.99.

With my trip to London coming up, I decided to invest in a good pair of gloves and this gorgeous pair with faux leather quilted details and buckle caught my eyes at just €15.99 as did this reversible poncho or scarf coat, call it what you want. This feels so cosy that I could live all winter in it and it only cost €25.99. On the day of the event, a 20% discount was being given on all purchases and us bloggers were gifted with a scarf, a bag, a VIP card and the official Orsay look-book for this season. I really love the bag and scarf that were given to me and I have already been planning outfits to wear them with!

Aldo Shoes at Arkadia Gozo had an extra 20% on sale shoes so I bought the following pair for just €20 instead of €69!

Next I bought this pair of shorts from the newly opened Pimkie at Main Street Paola and this burgundy faux leather pencil skirt from Mango after having my eyes on them for a few weeks. I paid €25.99 for the shorts and €29.99 for the skirt.

While browsing the Asos sale, I came across this Vero Moda parka jacket which was I believe somewhere around €20. I think it is always good to invest in a good jacket and this is my first such investment this year ;)

Lastly, these are some gifts I got during this month: an Yves Rocher consolation prize for taking part in one of their Facebook competitons, a clutch bag and shoes set from Nilara, a Liu Jo nappa leather bucket bag which my boyfriend got me from his holiday in Spain and an & Other Stories candle that my brother got me from his trip to Holland.

Monthly Favourites | September

September is gone too and that brings my birthday month closer :D Let's have a look back over the past month through my favourite products, most of which are new to me.

I will start off with hair and body care first and all three products featured are from Yves Rocher. If you are new to the brand, I suggest you read my Brand Spotlight post here to get to know the brand a little better. Back to the products, I have this exfoliating shower gel which smells divinely of yellow peaches and has the actual peach kernels ax exfoliating agents. I like that is has a gel texture as it lathers up nicely and the exfoliating particles are not too harsh, hence the shower gel is mild enough for everyday use.

Also pictured are the Volume Shampoo and Texturising Spray which are specifically tailored for fine hair and contain Mauve Mellow to enhance volume in your locks and they both smell heavenly! My hair has never looked this good and the spray also keeps fizz at bay! Highly recommended!

From Yves Rocher, I have also been loving the Active Sensitive Redness Relief cream of which I was given some samples. I liked it so much I went ahead and bought the full-sized version! It is quite rich, so it will double up as a moisturizer suitable for the colder months.

My favourite eye looks this month were all courtesy of this limited edition Queen of Hearts eyeshadow quad from KIKO which is versatile enough to be used for day or night looks. Apart from the nice selection of neutrals, I am really fond of the packaging which makes the palette one to covet. The variation I have is 03 Elegant Ebony and is one of the three available combinations.

On my nails, I have been loving the look of Orly GelFX Plum Noir. It is a nice dark plum colour which complements all skin tones and since it is a gel polish, it lasts for two weeks with high gloss shine and stays chip free! Right now I have a thing for dark purple polishes...guess it must be the change of seasons and this one fits the bill!

More from Italian brand KIKO, I have their Brush Cleanser and the Eyes 207 brush. The Brush Cleanser is seriously one to look out for! It cleanses brushes thoroughly and they are ready to be used again within seconds. The brush is something I had been on the look out for for ages and this is seriously the best brush to create cut-crease eye looks with! The tapered end proves to be very precise and is also good for blending colours together.

Lastly, I have lip products. I have been switching between neutral and bolder colours to go with the KIKO quad above. My favourites have been Pupa Milano Fluid Lip Colour 001 Princess Nude, E.L.F. Studio Glossy Gloss Ballet Slippers, Yves Rocher Sheer Botanical Lipstick 41 Iris Mauve, KIKO Lipsticks 916 and 911 and finally, my favourite out of the bunch, Max Factor Lipfinity 370 Always Extravagant.

Which products have made it to your favourites this month ladies?

September Collective Haul

This months collective haul is a bit late as opposed to the previous monthly hauls because I was waiting for a couple of items to be delivered from overseas and now that they are here, let me share with you my September acquisitions!

I did most of my shopping in Gozo while I was there for a weekend with Johan's family and some friends. I had to visit the Pimkie outlet in Rabat because we do not have one in Malta yet and while I was there, I checked out a few other shops as well and...well I do not need to tell you that my bank balance wasn't exactly pleased. I'll leave you to the pictures.

At Pimkie, I managed to find a camel brown faux leather jacket that I had been wanting for ages now but I never found the one...until now! I love the quilted detailing at the top which is very in right now and the collarless feature lends the jacket a more elegant feel. I paid €29.99 for it. At the same price, I got this white sleeveless dress with see-through panels at the sides. Johan chose this for me and I really like the embossed Aztec inspired pattern on the dress and it fits like a glove.  Lastly, the bargain of the month is also a Pimkie find. I bought this pair of metallic rose gold smoking slippers for just €5 instead of €22.99! They were the last pair and in my size and they had my name written all over them; needless to say, I snatched them before anyone else could!

My favourite item from this haul is probably this jacquard shell top with gemstone embellishments on the collar. It is quite a dressy number and can be paired with different bottom garments and is sure to inject a girly feel to a pair of skinny jeans. I bought it from New Look and it cost €29.99. For the cooler days, also from New Look, I bought this mocha marl boyfriend cardigan for €14.99 and this pretty waterfall cardigan with see-through back and flower appliques for €22.99. I never thought I'd say this but I am kinda looking forward to the cooler months just so I can wear all the new stuff that I got!

From Orsay, I bought a button-down cardigan with silver rhinestone embellishments on the shoulders for €29.95 and this gold effect ring for €4.95.

My mum bought me this sixties style checked skirt which I cannot wait to wear actually. She also bought me this grey vest to wear underneath cardigans and the likes.

Lastly, some Ebay purchases. I had purchased these items after seeing a post on Makeup Savvy blog about beauty bargains. I bought a Tangle Teezer dupe for €1.46 and collagen eye masks at €1.23 for 5 pairs.

Monthly Favourites: September 2011

Hello loves! September is up an gone already which could only mean one thing! It's time for my monthly favourites post again!  I have quite a good number of favourites this month so let's get right into it... The first thing I've been loving is my new working shift which leaves me with plenty of time for myself and consequently blogging :)

Let's see which beauty products I have been abusing of mostly this month starting with skin care :P

Apart from my La Roche Posay Skin Care products which I use religiously everyday, I have been loving a selection of the new Montagne Jeunesse masques especially the Blemish Mud which is my go to mas to perk up my complexion and eventually clear out blemishes.  I have also been using this black head peel off masque from The Face Shop which I got off ebay to clear out my nose area from any black heads that might be present.  Furthermore, this stainless steel comedone extractor makes popping zits and black heads so much easier and is pain and mark-free!  Being made out of stainless steel makes for easy disinfection as well!

I have had quite some bad looking zits on my face this month thanks to mother nature and the crappy September weather we have here so I have been using my NYX HD foundation and with it the Inglot primer and the e.l.f. make-up fixer to keep my face looking flawless.  With using foundation more frequently, in comes the Sigma F80 brush which is absolutely the best brush ever to apply foundation with!

For work, I have been opting for the e.l.f. Tinted Moisturizer in Rosy beige to let my skin breathe and set my under eye concealer with the e.l.f. Studio Complexion Perfection and the rest of my face with the e.l.f. Mineral Booster in Sheer.  To further conceal and treat my zits, I have been using the NYX Concealer in a Jar (Green) and the e.l.f Mineral Blemish Kit.

For my eyes, I have been using pretty much the same two eyeshadows most of the time, namely Wet 'n' Wild Brulee and Double Espresso from the CG trio. I have also been using the e.l.f. Waterproof Eyeliner Pens (Black & Coffee) as well as the e.l.f. Liquid Eyeliner (Black) quite a lot this month as I am trying to use up quite a few products before buying new ones (more on that in a later post).

Lastly, on my lips, I have been using mostly pink tinged colours and I am looking forward to get some more lipsticks and lipglosses in deeper pinky berry shades for Autumn.  This is what I have been using mostly this month: e.l.f. Studio Matte Lip Color in Natural, Barry M Special Edition glossy tube, Maybelline Water Shine Lipstick in 02 Cocoa Shake, Primark beauty pink lipgloss.

That's it for this month's favourites from my side ladies :) What have you been loving lately?

Monthly Favourites: September 2010

My my my how time flies by! Another month has already gone by and with it, it brought new starts: a new season and tomorrow I will start my last year at University which I am very looking forward to and hope it will be a fruitful and successful one *fingers crossed*. In the meantime, let me share my favourite products for this month you ladies :)

Estee Lauder palette ~ I absolutely love this palette! It has neutral colours that go with everything and I have been using it a lot to create a whole lot of Autumnal looks.

Max Factor Creme Puff ~ with a change of seasons comes a change in make-up routines and now that my skin has lost its tan ;( , I have reverted to using my pressed powder to give my face an even skin-tone.

elf Super Glossy Lip Shine SPF 15 in Malt Shake ~ I have three of these and love all of them, but this month I have used this shade the most especially for day looks since it gives a nice, sheeny hint of red to the lips without being too obvious. I also like layering it on red lipstick for night to give a more intense colour and a glossy finish.

elf Shimmer Eyeliner Pencil in Iconic Ivory ~ having read not so good reviews about elf's Eye Widener, I was glad they had this range of eyeliners delivered and so I bought this one to use as an eye widener and it works perfectly well!

elf Waterproof Eyeliner Pen in Black ~ this is my go-to eyeliner to create that perfect thin line and flick as it gives me total control to create the look I want. Furthermore, it stays put all day without smudging or budging!

elf Nail Polish in Rosy Raisin ~ I have been waiting for the Autumn collection of nail polishes from elf forever and when I got them in my last haul, this was the first one I tried and I fell head-over-heels for it! I can sense an Autumn loaded with NOTW featuring this colour!

elf Mineral Lipstick in Natural Nymph ~ another product I have been dying to get my hands on! I really love the nude lip you see in make up and fashion adverts and really wanted to give it a go and see how it works for me. I can say that this lipstick really has what it takes to achieve this look (will post pics when I do a full review about it).

Earrings ~ finally, something different... I bought these two pairs of earrings this month and can't seem to be able to resist putting them on, especially the silver/blue ones. I have a thing for dangly earrings (see photo below), probably owed to the fact that they jazz up any outfit and I nearly always buy a pair or two (or more hehe) whenever I hit the shops, particularly from this Chinese shop called Tenda Costume Accessories. They sell all sorts of quirky and original jewellery at unbeatably cheap prices which still looks as good as the higher priced ones. Also, when I bought these two pairs, I was with the bf and since the owner of the shop happened to know him through work, he even gave me a discount on each of them and got them for €5 instead of €7.90!!! They even pack them in cute pink paper pouches with violet flower and butterfly motifs :)

Here's a sneak-peak into my collection of dangly earrings:

The first pair from the top is from Accessorize, the round pair next to it is from Corfu, the pair under that I bought from a lady who sells them from her home, the green chandelier ones I bought from a random shop, the long black ones are from Peacocks, the second pair from left in the bottom row I also bought from Corfu and they are one of my faves as they have an unusual shape and are crafted from the Olive tree bark; the rest are all from Tenda!

Looking forward to seeing all your monthly faves for September!
