Event | Baystreet Fashion Show

Baystreet Shopping Complex has celebrated Fashion Month during May, and of course, what better way is there to celebrate all the big fashion brands than hosting a fashion show? The fashion show was organised right before Fashion Week, hence the delay in posting about it. However, since there are some very nice collections in stores right now, I still wanted to share my favourite looks from the different brands that took part in the show.

The show is a first for the four storey complex, showcasing the bright, colourful, summer 2017 collections from Original Marines, ALDO, Adidas, Skechers, Ipanema, Jennyfer, Misto, Dolce Plus, London F Cafe, Terranova, Guess, Calliope, Liu Jo, Goldenpoint, Trussardi, Sunlab, Bortex Women & Children, Pedro del Hierro, Cortefiel, Women'Secret.

I think the fashion show was very well organized and the collections really got me in the mood for summer! My favourite collections were the ones from Misto, Trussardi, Women'Secret and London F Cafe for they lean more towards my style preferences.

I think we are all in for a treat this summer with the brands hosted at Baystreet! Thank you to the organizers for having me :)

MFWA 2017 | My Experience

Another edition of the Malta Fashion Week and Awards has come and gone but this year, it was even bigger and better. Not just on an organisational level but also for me personally. This has been my fourth year attending the Malta Fashion Week. I am actually quite sad now that it's over and I feel somewhat hollow inside with no shows to prepare for and no party to look forward to with my favourite bloggers, designers and photographers.

Unashamedly, I admit our house is a bit of a mess and I don't know where I am going to start from to get everything back in order but I wouldn't have it any other way...I guess it's a sign of a very busy yet exceptional week.

To momentarily drive the blues away, I am sitting here at my desk just writing my thoughts on it all and I cannot start without mentioning the team behind it all. Kudos to Mr. Adrian J. Mizzi and his team for organizing yet another successful Fashion Week which is instrumental in cementing Malta's status as a fashion hub on an international level. Everyone makes sure all the shows run smoothly to the littlest of details which is after all what makes Malta Fashion Week such a high standard event. 

Speaking of improvements, I particularly prefer the way the seating was arranged in a staircase fashion, thus ensuring that even when we did not get a front row seat, we could still see the shows despite any human giraffes being seated in front of petite me. The presentation style fashion shows were a new concept introduced this year and I really appreciate the set-up for each and every one of them such as the deckchairs and lounge bar for the Carla Grima event and the wooden pallets for the models to stand on during Nathan Micallef's presentation. The only 'complaint' I have about these is that I think the setup could be improved to accommodate more people to see the shows better. But other than that, I think it is a concept worth exploring for future events.

However, for me, this year's edition was not just about the shows and preparing the outfits, it was also about getting to know other people better and I also got the chance to collaborate with some amazing people - namely the people behind TRESemme, one of the main sponsors of Malta Fashion Week, Virag Andersson from Virag Design which designs beautiful enamel and glass jewellery, Gaetano for truly making me feel like a princess on awards night with this gorgeous creation of a dress and Neil, my outfit photographer for the whole week. Thank you, thank you all so much! Now I look forward for more collaborations with other people to further share the talent we have in Malta on this blog.

This year I also got the chance to experience what goes on backstage and I feel the people who work tirelessly behind the scenes also deserve a mention and a huge well done on their amazing hair and makeup work. You can read all about my backstage experience here.

Well, I guess I have to conclude this post otherwise, I never stop writing and mentioning people. Congratulations to all the award winners and thank you to all the photographers for an unforgettable week of happy snaps :) Also, kudos to the models and their agencies who always pull through the whole week year after year!

Feeling Like A Princess - Outfit for MFW 2017 Awards Night

I was looking forward to Saturday's event ever since Gaetano offered to have me dressed in one his creations for the big night! I just couldn't wait to wear the dress for I loved everything about it - the colour, the beading, the fit and the overall feeling of looking like a princess. Here's a little secret...the 'dress' is actually a crop top and skirt!

Last Tuesday morning, me and Neil hit Fort St. Angelo in Vittoriosa (where Fashion Week took place last year) so that we could capture the beauty that is this dress without being pressed for time as would have probably been the case if we left it for the last minute.

I went for rose gold accessories to accentuate the colour shift in the beading.

I did my makeup in a green shade and put my hair slicked back thanks to TRESemme's Get Sleek Smooth and Tame Cream and Creation Hairspray; on the night however, I settled for neutral eye makeup and asked my hair dresser to still put my hair in a sleek pulled back hairstyle with a double parting inspired by one of the hairstyles during Gaetano's show last Wednesday. My hair for the night was done by Francesco Agius Risiott at Hair & Beauty by Cher.

I really enjoyed myself last Saturday and would like to extend my congratulations to all the award winners. Thank you once again to Gaetano for this beautiful dress!

Sheer Black and Flowers - Outfit for Day 5 of MFWA 2017

For the last day of the shows, it was back to my trusty Gianvito Rossi heels. This time I wore them with this gorgeous number from London F Cafe'.

As soon as I put on this dress I feel ok with myself..there's something about it that makes me feel really pretty and in my element. For one who doesn't really like black, I am finding myself reaching for this dark colour more because I have to admit that it does have an elegant feel to it. However the mint and pink embroidery provide that perfect touch of colour I crave with all black outfits.

On the day, I styled my hair with the TRESemme Max The Volume Textured Body Creme for a bit of oomph.

MFWA 2017 | Day 5 - Ritienne Zammit's Love of Valletta

Saturday was quite a busy day with the final night of Malta Fashion Week coming up so I got a little caught up with appointments and so on. However, I really feel Ritienne Zammit's I YValletta collection really deserves some space on this blog.

I am going to come straight to the point - this was hands down the best collection from all of the ones presented! I feel this collection is something more people can relate to than the one from last year. I love how Ritienne always manages to inject an element of originality in her collections and might I add they are always very well researched.

This year, Ritienne proposes a different look onto our capital city - old maps of Valletta in black and white, famous paintings from Valletta's churches as well as black and white photographs of the city of times gone by and the burial marble floors of St. John's Co-Cathedral. Mixed with sheer black mesh, sky blue ribbons and gold decorations, this is a one-of-a-kind collection of masterpieces from one of Malta's finest fashion designers.

I really liked the space buns and flower hairstyles which were also unique. The cat-eye glasses and makeup, including the pearls in the models' inner corners of the eyes continued to add interest to the looks being paraded down the runway.

I definitely have to get my hands on a couple of pieces from this collection a.s.a.p. and that only means one thing...Ritienne you killed it! Well done!
